Well, Ive been following every new information and also the huge amount of especulation. Ive gotta say that E3s trailer looks very good, ive gotta a feeling this game will be a fantastic redemption for those who hated Da2.
But.... I still feel for this delay. 2014 is so far, far away from now....
I wish we could have it sooner. Its being a long time since we have had anything new about DA to play (Ive got the books, comics, flash games, rpg, movie, but I would really love to play a new video game).

No... Image IPB I don't like that theory, it's obviously faulty.

How did it take me this long to realize there is a copy of Hard In Hightown 2 on the table in the #DAI trailer? Cassandra, we have to talk.

@BioMaryKirby What's a little light reading between sieges?

Haha oh man, that's hilarious. Does that mean that room was in the Hawke Estate? I thought we weren't going back to Kirkwall?

It looked as if she was outside, in front of some sort of Seeker fortress with an unnerving large eye statue. (Perhaps Lambert's faction?)

As excited as I am about DA:I, I'm also dreading it after what happened with ME3... So, it's highly unlikely I'll pre-order, I'm more likely to wait 'til I can see some gameplay vids on Youtube and read what fans have to say.

As long as there's a good character creation thing though, that'll be a plus... and I still want to know the ultimate fate of my Warden and Champion from DA1 & 2 - I'd love to be able to play this game as one of them.

She's in front of big large table made out of a roughly cut tree trunk, there are also roots coming down from the celling. I think that "room" is underground.

Allan Schumacher has suggested that the scenes in the trailer aren't necessarily representative of anything that's in the game - it was made by people going into the engine and manipulating assets/characters/etc. It's not necessarily showing cutscenes or events that are definitely going to happen, so all the speculation about who the bodies are could be for nothing.

It could be, for example, that they've just got [random dead body asset #2] from some other scene, added a flame effect then put Varric walking in. For all we know he's just there to show the "wow there's a war going on" vibe.

To be honest, this is how I interpreted the scene. I don't think the body is meant to be any specific character, just to show the horrors of war. I could be wrong though, we'll just have to wait and see.

From Allan :

"Our trailer was "in engine" in that, it was DA3 assets placed inside the Frostbite engine within existing DA3 levels, and people loading up the game and moving around the camera, creating cinematic sequences, and the like, for the intent of capturing a video for demonstration.

If you were to draw the closest analogue to what the trailer was, it'd be the in game cinematics from DAO and DA2. The only hesitation one might put on "in game" is that upon playing the game at release, someone might go "Hey, where's that scene of the Qunari slowly turning around? I didn't see that in my game!" You might not see a scene that actually has Cassandra stabbing daggers into tables, and you might not come across a scene where Varric is looking over some dead bodies."

Edit: Spent so long searching for the post that I was ninja'd

Allan also just posted:

Allan Schumacher wrote...

I don't feel we abandoned "show, not tell" (everything you saw was created with our tools and represents assets we intend to put into the game. That IS Varric's model, that is how Morrigan looks in game - these things may change with iteration, but the demo was also about helping us establish our visual target internally). The rain running down the Qunari's face actually exists in the engine (and I have seen the Inquisitor get all nice and shiny from the rain as I run around the level that that Qunari was placed in for the trailer). If you're of the assumption that this was the equivalent of a Blur trailer, and not using game assets, then your assumption is incorrect.

The second quote seems to suggest a lot of the trailer was characters posing in various scenes for dramatic effect.

(Though I guess, if the qunari is a companion, he could conceivably be in that level in the course of normal gameplay too.)

It's essentially a large cutscene using the game resources. thus it will be pretty close to what things look like in game. Of course actual game footage is always a bit different because it has a fixed point of view or camera whereas the cutscene editor lets you do alot more with camera panning, close ups and all sorts of other effects.

Anyone that has never looked at the Dragon Age toolset and the cutscene editor within should give it a look and try it out. It has a bit of a learning curve but is pretty fun to play around with and gives a person a better appreciation how cutscenes and trailers like this are put together.

That explanation doesn't really hold water to me. The trailer says "ACTUAL GAME FOOTAGE" which obviously means actual game footage. If they were worried about people misconstruing the trailer as being straight out of the game that phrase seems even more damning than "Actual In-Game Graphics." I think they used the FB3 engine like an animation suite and made the assets and animations a whole lot prettier than they actually are.

@BioMarkDarrah hi Mark, wondering if you can answer: does 2014 release for DA:I mean you're adding more content than was first envisioned?

Mark Darrah ‏@BioMarkDarrah
@[user] Yes. And making sure that everything we make is at the proper quality level.

Guess that's one upside to the extra... year... of development time. Wonder what the changes to the original scope will be?

Well, I just hope I can actually have Varric books in game.
And move it , not just click inventory , and put it on a shelf.
There were so much things on The Seeker table ...
I hope objects will get more interactive ...I know it sounds a lot like Skyrim but ....
VArric books!

You really are a piece of work.  Get off your sorry behind get the Da toolset and test out the cutscene creator.  The effects in the cutscene creator are the effects you get in game, the faces are the in game faces, the models are in game models.

Let me ask you this, do you think that all the cutscense from the last two games were no tactual game footage?  they were in the game, thus they were actual game footage.

I think that, possibly, getting anxious about trailer footage not matching up to the final product a year and a half before release is pushing the boundaries of being reasonable. We have literally nothing else with which to compare that, so wondering about the truth of what was shown is a bit premature at this point.

If live gameplay looks nothing like that (whenever they show it), then I think you'd have grounds for claiming it'd been manipulated.

What does the DAO toolset have to do with anything? What do scenes from previous games have to do with anything? And what's more ridiculous, believing that a game 16 months away from release is already that gorgeous and polished or thinking that the debut trailer was prettied up to make a good impression?

I'm not anxious at all. I just don't believe that the game is already looking that polished and gorgeous if they still need 16 months or more to finish it. It makes no sense.

Clearly, you just don't get it. What I don't understand is why you're fixating on this particular subject. Seems like if you wanted to point at something you think BioWare is lying about you would pick something like their "open world" claim.

I don't think all the game is polished to that extent yet either. From what I've heard different parts of the game tend to develop at different rates, so where as some of it may look as good as the trailer, other sections are likely still in their basic stages.

I know that the claims of an "open world" are PR spin. Aaron Flynn has since said that the areas we visit will just be larger and more open than in previous games.
The trailer saying "ACTUAL GAME FOOTAGE" and then devs saying "well, it's in-engine," "well, it's in-engine using in-game assets," "well, we just didn't say in-game because that seems like a promise," etc just smacks of BS. It makes no sense that a game so far from release would already have such polished and gorgeous graphics but not be in a state to be playable or even have displayable gameplay of any kind. They can't even talk about gameplay at this point but the game is already as gorgeous as any next-gen title we've seen*? No, that makes absolutely no sense.

*I think the trailer looked better than any actual in-game graphics we've from any next-gen titles but some people say the Battlefield 4 gameplay was prettier
