LOL, I just saw that. Bianca doesn't look anything like a gun!

That explanation doesn't really hold water to me. The trailer says "ACTUAL GAME FOOTAGE" which obviously means actual game footage. If they were worried about people misconstruing the trailer as being straight out of the game that phrase seems even more damning than "Actual In-Game Graphics." I think they used the FB3 engine like an animation suite and made the assets and animations a whole lot prettier than they actually are.

It makes no sense that a game so far from release would already have such polished and gorgeous graphics but not be in a state to be playable or even have displayable gameplay of any kind. They can't even talk about gameplay at this point but the game is already as gorgeous as any next-gen title we've seen*? No, that makes absolutely no sense.

You really are a piece of work. Get off your sorry behind get the Da toolset and test out the cutscene creator. The effects in the cutscene creator are the effects you get in game, the faces are the in game faces, the models are in game models.
Let me ask you this, do you think that all the cutscense from the last two games were no tactual game footage? they were in the game, thus they were actual game footage.
What does the DAO toolset have to do with anything? What do scenes from previous games have to do with anything? And what's more ridiculous, believing that a game 16 months away from release is already that gorgeous and polished or thinking that the debut trailer was prettied up to make a good impression?ElitePinecone wrote...
I think that, possibly, getting anxious about trailer footage not matching up to the final product a year and a half before release
is pushing the boundaries of being reasonable. We have literally
nothing else with which to compare that, so wondering about the truth of
what was shown is a bit premature at this point.
If live
gameplay looks nothing like that (whenever they show it), then I think
you'd have grounds for claiming it'd been manipulated.
I'm not anxious at all. I just don't believe that the game is already looking that polished and gorgeous if they still need 16 months or more to finish it. It makes no sense.

Just saw it -- I love how the guy is like all righteous anger 'no guns in my fantasy games! '
And DA twitter was all helpful like 'you mean Bianca? She's not a gun'
and the guy is like ' lolno I meant the weapon' -- the poor guy had no idea, did he?

Here's what you're effectively saying: "If you change anything from this video BioWare, you're lying. Under no circumstances in the next 12+ months are you allowed to change any of what we saw here, otherwise this will no longer be actual game footage!"

You also have the feeling that this game is balls out gorgeous based on the trailer, and that it's impossible for the game to actually have anything close to this level of fidelity. This is flattering, but given that I'd say that Battlefield 4 looks more visually impressive (and it was a live multiplayer demo), I'm not sure why there's so much resistance that our game can't actually have a level of detail similar to the trailer.
Allan Schumacher wrote...
I find your rejection and specificity of "in game footage" to be arbitrary. If you don't think the trailer can be our visual target, it's probably best I leave it at this as I don't think I can convince you.
if you believe you are right from the get go you can't be proven wrong so be a bit more to good possibilties. i found nothing wrong with that teaser it was only quickly put together so it does not matter if it is not pefrect. Also i myself now animators can be had of the guys doing the actual game play at universty a game development project i did was like that the animators were often ahead in devolpmentBasilKarlo wrote...

Except that's not what I'm saying at all. I'm making no demands. I'm saying I don't believe you. I don't believe that that trailer was indicative of the graphics of the game in its current state.Allan Schumacher wrote...

People keep saying that but I wholeheartedly disagree. I saw low-fidelity assets and choppy animations in that gameplay demo, as well as a grey-ness that's usually indicative of low-res textures being hidden.
no game is visual perfection you know for a first teaser it was solid considring it was only put together for a quick purposeAllan Schumacher wrote...

I guess you don't realize that you've just admitted that the trailer is not what the game looks like but what you want it to look like.
If the game ends up looking as good or better than the trailer I will be thrilled. As it stands I find it to be absolutely disingenuous to say that the game is already amazingly polished and animated but the core gameplay mechanics are too undeveloped to even talk about.

Yeah, he handled that one with real class.
I am actually not that surpised that some people have mistaken Bianca for a gun, since the live stream chat had a couple of commenters who immediately went 'lol there's a gun' when they saw the trailer, but people corrected them pretty quickly. And that mistake can be easy to make because of the way she's designed and how she looks when she's folded up -- Bianca doesn't look anything like your standard fantasy crossbow; she's is quite special.

Yeah, I can understand why people who are unfamiliar with Varric would mistake Bianca for some kind of gun.MissOuJ wrote...
