I don't think all the game is polished to that extent yet either. From what I've heard different parts of the game tend to develop at different rates, so where as some of it may look as good as the trailer, other sections are likely still in their basic stages.
Much of the game is no where near the level of fidelity that we showed in the trailer. Or else we proabably would have shown it too.

@[person] Sorry. Sooner would hurt the quality of the game. Fall 2014 it is. It's for the best. Glad you're looking forward to it.
^ I'm excited by the potential of another year in development to expand DA:I and polish what's already been made, but were things running so behind schedule that a whole additional 12 months was needed to make sure it didn't come out unfinished or with significant cuts to planned content/scope? That length of a delay seems slightly... unusual?
It'd make more sense if there was another timing-related reason for making it Fall 2014, like wanting to hit the holiday season or something to maximise sales. At the moment I'm just wondering what the team could possibly even *do* for a year to justify all that extra time - it's like suddenly you've got a third (half again?) more development time than was originally planned.
Then again, I don't know a thing about how all this works

Though some people thought it was to re-establish the naming style of DA: Origins, or to distance the series from the idea of traditional sequels, or to paint DA:I as something fresh for a larger audience, or to distance it from DAII, or to give the game a snappier subtitle like "Inquisition" that's more attractive to new players. It could be a lot of reasons, really.

So I guess they are emphasising the connection to DA:O. Though of course there's Varric and Cassandra in the trailer, so they're not exactly disowning DA2.

I'm pretty sure its less to with DA2's reception and more to do with ME3 and DAO being their best selling games. After all, why would they put ME3 there if they wanted to distance themselves from controversy?

True. ME3 also received better metacritic scores (PC/X360/PS3)- (89/93/93) vs DA2 which received (82/79/82). Heck DAO was (91/86/87) so no surprise there. Odd that they didn't add in ME2 which received the highest scores all over - (96/96/94).

Oh believe me, they will find lots of things to do in that year. In fact, they probably already have a BIG list of ideas that they left on the drawing board because they knew they didn't have the time to implement them. This can include gameplay features as well as content (quests, characters, encounters, etc).
Giving more time to Software developers is like giving kids cake: they will jump on it and the last thing you know it's all gone.

Beside if you think about it , in theory Frosbite is supposed to make everything easier.
But they're the first to create a RPG with it ,....
I can imagine all the "not working as intended " ,etc....
Anyway one more year to work on the game is great , the wait is not so great./single tear.

I know about as little as you do when it comes to this stuff, but maybe, in addition to needing some extra time for polishing the current game, they decided to ask for some extra time and money in order to add cool things that may not have made it in the game otherwise. Things that perhaps fans have been requesting and Bio ware wanted to implement but had to put off for DA 4.
