I don't like the sound of this- he's probably hoping for a bountiful harvest of fan tears to carry him through the development of the new IP.

Because people had doubts:

@Mike_Laidlaw Is Solas voiced by Gareth David-Lloyd in Trespasser?
Mike Laidlaw retweeted Ross Woodward
Yup.
I could tell. In Descent his voice sounds different too but you can still tell it's him if you listen closely. Maybe the doubters forgot what he sounded like from not playing? lol j/k

During the stream when he mentioned it was the end and paused it occurred to me he was waiting for the fans to shed tears. ![]()
Unfortunately, we're losing the sense of character progression that XP rewards provide—the sense that the combat and quests you're prevailing through are leading to tangible improvement to your character and companions.
I don't care about levels, but whenever I hit a level cap and no longer gain XP from actions, I begin to lose interest in continuing fairly rapidly.
I'm only at Level 25 now (still in the early stages of Jaws), but I'm really not looking forward to hitting the ceiling, and I don't know how long I can maintain interest if there's nothing to take its place in the epilogue DLC.
I generally have the opposite experience to this, actually. In single-player games I generally detest the entire process of "leveling". I want to PLAY my build not think about how cool it might be when I get there . . . just in time for the game to be over. (Elder Scrolls games being the exception because the game doesn't really "end".) But progression in Inquisition is kinda weird since the abilities aren't really level-locked or anything like that. If you respec to get your specialization abilities you pretty much have the same "build" from level 12 onward. The leveling in this game is phenomenally bare-bones. I'd be perfectly happy if they just gave me a block of ability points at the beginning of the game and said "spend these, all your progression will come from gear upgrades and permanent stat increases you can acquire by Doing Stuff."

Looks like we're going to play hide-and-seek.
I know some people are sad about it, but I think it's awesome that we're getting an actual playable way to definitively end our playthrough and get some closure before we go on to DA4.
More than I expected to be sure.

Had they done this for the Hero of Fereldan people wouldn't be complaining so much about no HoF in DAI. This is an excellent move from a continuity/progressing-to-the-next-story stand point.

Indeed it is a good move, I just hope this definitive end doesn’t result in our inquisitors dying.
Well, that's pretty much the only way to definitively end it, so you need to pick one.Indeed it is a good move, I just hope this definitive end doesn’t result in our inquisitors dying.
I'm really pumped to see what the companions got up to in the interim two years. My male inquisitor romanced Dorian and encouraged him to go back to Tevinter. I can't wait to see what kind of reunion they're going to have. I hope it's filled with drama ![]()
There are no ways to definitively end your story without ceding all control of the characters in it... and BioWare's not going to do that. There are many ways to definitively end something, it doesn’t always have to end with someone dying.
I have new screenshot:
For some reason I just noticed that that's Skyhold at night, which they never got to work perfectly in the base game. So, maybe possibly Skyhold content? At least a little? I mean there is the scene in the war room. Also, Bull has new armour, and I'm wondering what that symbol on the pauldron is. Looks like the sun, some stars, and possibly a figure.

Well, that's not ominous at all... There is an obvious figure in the nearest eluvian, though I'm not sure who. Solas would be the obvious candidate, but maybe it's the Inquisitor? Maybe Levellan decided to disband the Inquisition and "retire" and go through the eluvian with Solas, hence the discarded helmet? It is an eluvian flanked by statues of Fen'Harel after all. And I love the classic dragon shape!

And that's not Skyhold.
It's not?
All/most of the companions had new looking armour in the trailer, yay about time we got a few new designs to look at.
That doesn't look like Skyhold to me either.
So if there's no Skyhold, I wonder where we'll hear the tavern songs.
There's no structure as large as the tower (where your quarters are), and Skyhold is surrounded by mountains on almost all sides (and the trench of the valley is narrower than the horizon in that shot). It's not?
There's a new hub (Mike said that the golden nug and wardrobe show up in a new location in Trespasser that he didn't want to reveal, in addition to showing up in Haven and Skyhold). So if there's no Skyhold, I wonder where we'll hear the tavern songs.
Its possible we'll have some kind of temporary base within the DLC, maybe some kind of embassy. So if there's no Skyhold, I wonder where we'll hear the tavern songs.

This is what I think as well, based on the trailer and tweets. The Inquisitor yelling with Leliana, Cass and Harding in the room with the table? that's not at Skyhold.
