I don't know how I'm going to get anything done at work this week.
Monday morning deadline and the email is down, which just gives me a better excuse to be here.

Brace Yourselves????? Ok at this point I may have to avoid this dlc with my Lavellan altogether and just play it with my Blackwall-lovin' F!Trev. Because I'm honestly not sure I can brace myself enough for one of Weekes' character moments

Break out the casks!
I hope all those power points we gathered will have some use in the DLC!
BTW: I'm glad they had a female Inquisitor represent the hero in the trailer. The past two games have always featured men in the promo trailers.

Huh, that's odd. I don't see the game making our Inquisitor do bad stuff without our control, I suppose other members of the Inquisition were up to no good. Does that mean our Inquisitor just stayed indiferent to the crimes of his/her own people?
One of the things mentioned was Ferelden unhappy at us taking over a keep in their lands.

Technically, a floating keep is not on anyone's lands; just saying.....

In the article about Solas, "While Bioware knows that players want to "A) see him and
bang him," he's in an "interesting scenario" where players will see "threads being woven into a bigger tapestry."

A last point: Mike Laidlaw does warn that this is a Patrick Weekes' character and to brace yourselves."

ikr. Gawd, I feel like I'm going to throw up. Why do two of the only three writers in videogaming who can do this to me both work for Bioware and both on Inquisition???? (I'm talking about Mr Weekes and David Gaider, the non BW one being Chris Avellone).

Well I imagine our Spymaster, Commander (and even our Diplomat) have ruffled more than a few feathers over time. There could be a number of unintended consequences from our actions. MIke mentions Ferelden being angry that we had taken over a keep in their lands (Crestwood) and stationed forces there. The flipside being, did you want bandits to have it?
I have a feeling that we may be eroding the stability of these nations as we have made them look inept in the handling of the recent crises (and dependent on us). As more flock to our banner, there's probably all sorts of power struggles (and subsequent collateral damage) happening behind the scenes.
It's funny that you mentioned Crestwood. I imagined a possible Hero of Ferelden sequel should start at a fair in Crestwood where the Inquisition formally returns the keep to Ferelden control. The monarchs of Ferelden and Orlais would also attend. The ruins where the high dragon used to be would be restored as the main stage for the fair grounds. Then we'd see Sandal playing with two mabari hounds. One belongs to the Hero to the Ferelden and the other belongs to Hawke.

"Brace yourself. This is a Patrick Weekes character." (paraphrased) ![]()
I take that to mean that Solas will give us some sweet dialogue lines and then once again stomp all over poor Lavellan's heart. And he might be singing a catchy showtune while he does so.

If they could convince GDL to sing Gilbert and Sullivan in Solas' voice, we could all get through this.

I think all the BW writers are capable of great evil (against the characters anyhow). They pretend to be nice and sane people. Then you leave them alone with a pen and paper and boom- all of a sudden Alistair is sacrificing himself, your sibling is dying in the Deep Roads, your mother is being turned into Frankenstein's momster, Cassandra is waving good-bye as she's heading off to become Divine and Solas takes his orb and ditches you.

I'm going to be honest here and say I am actually quite happy that they decided to give such a short notice on the "Trespasser" DLC because it means I have to spend a significant smaller time waiting for it's release. I suppose that's also why I am not so bothered by Telltale's lack of a set release table.
Both happen like surprises that you did not expect but find pleasent still.

#83700
Posté 31 août 2015 - 04:39
Why oh why do you keep stopping DA game support so quickly?
DAO: promised to keep turning out DLCs until the next game launched, but stopped after a short time.
DA2: big (and any further) DLC cancelled after 2 story DLCs and some item packs.
Now DAI: final DLC announced already just as it appeared that this time you might finally be releasing some quality DLCs to extend the lifetime of the title and help pass the time until the sequel.
