It appears that almost every Active ability upgrade now has a couple of options for customization.

If you have Trespasser installed, every active ability now has a choice of two upgrades (it still only requires a single ability point to purchase the upgrade, but afterward you're now able to toggle between two completely different upgrades for that ability—and you can freely toggle back and forth anytime outside of combat, so you're not locked into choosing only one of the upgrades).

This is something that applies to the entire game (if you start a new game, you'll be able to use all the new upgrades throughout the whole thing).

Random treasure (new items, rare crafting materials, and sigils).

As to whether it's worth it, who can say. There's no list of the specific items yet, and there's no way to know what you would find valuable.

I really like that they added an auto-scale trial though. I have a mod that does it and it's essential for me so it's nice to see this option is added even if I can't use it.

So basically a trial sort of...changes the "rules" for a particular playthrough?

Yep, you can pick them when you start a new game where the difficulty can be set and there's a place under options in the main menu.

Health potions heal for 1 HP, potions caches gone from the game, focus resets when you rest or travel, enemies scale to be at least the same level, enemies may have new traits (playing on normal and Templars in Hinterlands have guard and so on so far. It's taking forever cuz I have all trials turned on at once, good lord), gain exp at half normal rate, negative disapproval for companions is doubled, and the bear one. Just says "You thought bears were tough? Think again." Haven't gotten far enough to find one yet.

I've also already had one item pop up in my special shipments. An enhanced potions belt. Which doesn't really help with the 1 Hp heal I have on. xD

Some of the tweets give me the impression that we might not be seeing another DA, at least for a while. I know they definitely left somewhat of a cliffhanger with the recent DLC, but the tone coupled with the fact that they haven't even been greenlit suggests to me that the franchise may be going on hiatus.

They probably are just at such an early stage that they only need the core group of devs. They tend to shift around to where they are needed. That and I bet you can't get this "greenlight" until you have something semi-final to present internally.

As a fellow time warner internet customer, I find the wifi can be a little moody sometimes. Call up customer service, they can tweak some things.

That's possible, it depends on EA's own internal processes for 'greenlighting' a game, however my experience is that generally a project is approved before any coding at all is done. Also DA2 was greenlight before Awakening was even released, and DAI had been in progress since before Mark of the Assassin. For DA4 to not even be at that stage is a bit disheartening.

Greenlighting is when the powers-that-be say "yes, make that exact game you're showing us". It is not "go ahead and plan the next game in the series". Every single game made by a development team has a stage where they show what they're planning to build and a decision is made to either go ahead and build it or to go back to the drawing board. Considering how much money is spent on a big triple-X game, it's only sensible.
