Some of the tweets give me the impression that we might not be seeing another DA, at least for a while. I know they definitely left somewhat of a cliffhanger with the recent DLC, but the tone coupled with the fact that they haven't even been greenlit suggests to me that the franchise may be going on hiatus.
Well, I think it's important to always remember that the years between Dragon Age games aren't really the same -- for fans or devs -- as, say, between ME1/ME2 and ME2/ME3. For all intents and purposes, the Inquisitor's story is over. For all intents and purposes, the story of the renaissance of the Inquisition is over. Corypheus as a threat is over. The nine companions we've come to love in Dragon Age: Inquisition will never again work as a team. All that jazz... that's what Patrick Weekes and his fellow developers are bidding farewell, I'd say. The next DA, as always, will have a somewhat radical shift. We have heavy hints as to where it's headed, but it won't be headed there with my lovely Aeryn Lavellan at the helm. It's a big deal. It's a goodbye.
So while I do think we'll be going another three years or so, perhaps, until our next grand adventure in Thedas, I have little doubt that Weekes, Laidlaw, Darrah, et al are busy passionately debating the vision for that far-off journey, and Electronic Arts has given the tentative go-ahead to keep on debating.

They probably are just at such an early stage that they only need the core group of devs. They tend to shift around to where they are needed. That and I bet you can't get this "greenlight" until you have something semi-final to present internally.
Pre-development on follow up projects tend to begin towards the end of the priors development. So for DAI it would have began shortly before it released. The writing and concept teams are generally the first to transition.

Without going into spoilers of the new DLC, I think it's heavily implied the inquisitors story isn't done just yet. But I digress, I just hope they eventually get another game out after that cliffhanger. I only note that it's odd for a games sequel to not have begun any sort of production a year out from its release, given the way development cycles work. I don't want to bring the twitter thread OT or anything, just merely making an observation. ![]()

Inquisition was in some form of development long before the old leaks, which was in turn long before BioWare announced the game at all. I imagine the current level of pre-production in favor of DA4 mimics that trend, regardless of Mr. Darrah's phrasing. We just probably won't hear about it until, like, early 2017, honestly.

Thanks for spoiling that it has a cliffhanger, dude.

The vanilla game has a cliffhanger "dude". Did you really expect for the DLC to satisfy it? If the mere utterance of the word cliffhanger gets you on edge, maybe you need to cut off all communication regarding the game. That's like getting mad at someone for saying there's an ending, or a final boss. The DA franchise has always had cliffhangers, where have you been? ![]()

Mike tweeted there was an "after credits" type scene before the DLC was released... I think many just assumed...
But DEFO keep any story spoilers out of the tread ppl! Not everyone has finished it yet!

No, it's not the same thing as saying that the game has an ending, or a final boss. People who didn't know that there was a cliffhanger will now go in expecting one. I don't know about you, dude, but I like my stories with surprises.
And your dismissive attitude about that in a thread that's specifically marked as not containing spoilers makes you sound like a bit of a jerk, to say the least. Why come in here and talk about the end of the story and the future of the franchise when there's literally an entire forum in which to do so?

Well, I just think it's silly to have the twitter thread in the non-spoiler section, considering many tweets are spoiler-y themselves, and people should be able to discuss them, since that's what this thread is for.

I think you need to calm down, It's already been explained to you that I did not divulge spoilers. Hell, one of the tweets from Laidlaw in this very thread mentioned the exact same thing I did. Instead of resorting to personal attacks and angry posts, please keep this thread on topic.

You're all so lovely, have been so wonderful & supportive - fans, reviewers & @bioware - it's been an honour being an Inquisitor for you.
You have to hand it to her she did a great job ![]()

None of the mods or devs have replied to requests to move it.
Also, Conal Pierse said eventually the spoiler and non-spoiler sections are going to be merged as part of changes in the forums. At this point it'll probably happen when most people have finished all Inquisition content and so can't be spoiled anyway.

Yeah, that's... kind of sad. I mean, they can't even take the time to move a thread? And one as popular as this? *sigh* I'm getting off-topic though. I have to correct you on the second part though. They said when they get merged, it's going to be a massive non-spoiler general discussion section, and they'll rely on us to use tags.
Because that'll go over well.

Ah, how to reassure without making it worse...
If people read the 'spoiler' above and were concerned about the ending being of a certain kind, please don't be.
The poster exaggerated the situation. The ending is satisfying (for reasons I won't debate here). It's good. Enjoy. Enough said.

Just so everyone knows, there is actually another set unlocked by this DLC, the Griffon set, which has lots of metal for those looking for heavier armour. It's in the base game though. They changed the rewards for some of the war table missions to new things.
Please can anyone make screenshots of this Griffon set?

Till now I found only light and medium versions (unfortunately not schematics, but items).

Yes she did just like the excellent job she did voicing Samantha in ME3.
It would be nice to hear her voice again as the Inquisitor in the next game

Assuming the inquisitor is going to appear in the next game. I don’t really see how they can’t appear in some capacity but if Bioware are hell bent on the every new game has a new protagonist idea don’t expect them to have a big role.

I don't know how it works, with contracts and such, but I can't imagine that if they have a role somewhat planned-like any of the returning characters- Morrigan, Solas, Flemythal, etc- that they would have locked them into contracts for, say- 2 games, 3 games, whatever they feel like is likely, no? I mean, if I had planned as a company for Solas to be a major figure throughout a six game arc, I'd do whatever I could to tie down that voice actor for six games. Idk, though. Anyway I can't imagine that she'd go and say no if they asked her to reprise. I don't think anyone has changed voice actors- except Anders, but Anders was only because they were giving Greg to Cullen, right? (Or giving Cullen to Greg). But even Howden was in Origins, so who knows.
Anyway, ignore this. I have no idea how it works, like I said. Just a shot in the dark.

Contracts for multiple titles/projects is typically a TV/Film thing. They don’t tend to do that with games given the volatility of the games industry and the fact that any project no matter how succesful prtevious installments have been can potentially be cancelled at any given time for various reasons.

I wonder if it could be done with, say, a clause, or an option of some kind.
Contracted for x amount of hours/games, with a clause or option that states Bioware has the option to extend contract or whatever, based on growth of role? Maybe it's just a lucrative enough gig that no one turns them down. lol.

This is the first Dragon Age game where I really wish I could play as the same Protagonist next time. But (and I'm going to spoiler tag, so those reading, be fairly warned that this is spoilery. Though I will word it as vaguely as I can, I wouldn't read it if you haven't played the new DLC, yet):
So, though I'm a little sad about it, I'm curious about how the next protagonist will fit in.
