What's a vertical slice?

 

A vertical slice is essentially a proof of concept. You’re basically saying to publishers/backers that you know what you want to make, you just need the funding to make it happen. It’s pretty much how all games start off before they get the green light.

 

 

They sure get away with a lot at work.

 

Most game dev studios are like that honestly. You can’t exactly do much when you’re waiting for stuff to build/render/compile/get fixed. At the studio I work at we once had a massive nerf gun fight in the middle of the artists room while waiting for the coders to fix something wrong with one of the builds.

Can't say that I am though, given the choice I made at the end, it would just be meaningless for a new protagonist if we face Solas again.

The Inquisitor says they need new people Solas don't know yet. Perfect time to introduce a new protagonist. 

 

It would be nice to have the Inquisitor back as an advisor WITH his/her own dialogue wheel (we would have "full play" with the new character and something with the old, haha).

I really don't wanna see that plot resolved in a new game. It would be better to make an extended version of Trespasser or an expansion in my opinion.

Trespasser DLC - Epilogue slides

Inquisition was the best project I've ever worked on by a large margin and drawing these epilogue slides felt like the best possible send off for me. Out of the 43 that I drew, these were a few of my favorites.

It was a great chance to break free of technical limitations (cloaks, hair, etc...) and to explore what directions they may head. As wonderful as "iconic" looks are, I like to break characters of their set appearances when possible. Every costume in the game required drawings, sculpting, rigging. That cost means we usually don't get a lot of wardrobe changes for characters. The epilogue slides were also a good chance to explore what else these characters may wear. Maybe they let their hair down (Josephine), or they have a favorite coat they never wore because they spent the game in armor (Cullen), or they have culturally specific clothing they can bring out (Cassandra's formal Nevarran dragon dress and hair braid).

Too big for even an expansion. Need a new game. There is a LOT of lore involved, it does threaten the whole world again, can't do it in 2x hours.

I don't know if it was posted in here, but the Solas thread linked to a discussion on Twitter where Weekes said the Solas plot will be given closure if they are to do another game. So there's that.

Correct. If you make Cullen stay on lyrium, that's what happens to him. He ends up destitute in the streets, begging for money to get lyrium.

 

And this is why I am never making Cullen keep taking lyrium.
