IKR? This is just weird. Has Bioware ever dropped a VA? I kinda pictured their VA contracts as stipulating "YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST DO THIS UNTIL YOU DIE."
Maybe Valentine's a diva? Still gonna be weird if Alistair is there and sounds different.

Isabela and Merrill's voice actors were changed, but they were very minor characters in Origins. I would imagine Alistair is either not playing any role in Inquisition or they haven't gotten around to contacting Valentine to record for a small cameo.

Or he's now demon possessed and has a voice like Leviathan. I could see how that works too. And Valentine wouldn't have hinted at Alistair being present but him not being present if he didn't have some idea of whether Alistair is actually there.
Or he's making a joke and means he, as in the person, isn't in the game but the character he voices is. Yip. That's gonna be my headcanon for now.

The original Mordin Solus was changed, with a great deal of fan consternation on the ME boards.
The original? What original?
I've completed Mass Effect and he isn't a part of the game. Mass Effect 2 is completed as well and I absolutely LOVE Mordin Solus, his voice and his manneurisms.
Now I've only just started Mass Effect 3 and haven't met him yet, if he even is a part of the game. If he is and they changed his voice, I'll be crying myself to sleep. He has the greatest jokes and his voice is super appropriate for his character.

GAME. OFFICALLY. RUINED. Alistair is my favorite character, and it would be so easy to put him in, he'd seem so in place. Whereas in DA2 he was forced into the game.

Mark Meer voices him in ME3.
Mordin's voice actor in ME3 is William Salyers and he did good job.

Yup, he did a very good job. You could tell there was a difference but not to the point of it being a major distraction.

I reeeeeeeeally hope that if Alistair does make an appearance, it won't be to say goodbye before he heads to the Deep Roads because he received his calling.
Maybe, just maybe one of the plot threads in DA:I might be a cure for the taint? Hey, if Mass Effect 3 could give us the option of curing the genophage...

I just finished watching David Gaider's GDC presentation. As a female gamer, THANK YOU. Thank you for seeing my side. Thank you for acknowledging how I would like to be treated and what I would like in video games. And thank you for taking the time to share what you have learned with the rest of the gaming industry, should they choose to listen or not, so that maybe things will get better. I appreciate it. *thumbs up*
Word. Too bad the thread about it was closed due to flagrant a**hatter-y.

If he is going on his Calling then he better be going with his romanced Warden.

In the first one he was just being silly, he was saying he (Steve Valentine) as himself wasn't in the game, but that he (as the voice of Alistair) might be. It was a joke. Second tweet he's saying that he hasn't been asked to come back to do VO work yet.
Let's not forget there's over a year left before the game comes out, chances are they just haven't asked him yet, especially if it'll be another short cameo.
YES!! This! A voice of reason!! I agree with this.
And besides they really are not supposed to say anything right??

Maybe even after the epic final battle when things become quiet again. You see the two of them , about to descend into the deep roads , they look at eachother one last time, Alistair reaches for her hand and then they embark on their last journey together .....excuse me *SOB*

Alistair might not appear?
GREAT!!!
Now hopefully we'll still get a Loghain cameo. After all, he did leave for Montsimmard in Awakening.

If Loghain did in my playthrough it might take him a while getting there, stumbling about, bumping into walls and trees and such since he doesn't have a head.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of the backgrounds was a half-elf human, actually. It provides a bit more variety without having to put resources into different voices and appearances.
Why would an elf or dwarf require a different voice?
It wouldn't require it, you're right. However, city elves and dwarves have American accents vs the English accents for most humans, and (at least in DA2) Dalish are meant to have Irish and Welsh accents, so it would probably seem a bit odd to have one uniform voice across every different culture.
I don't think there's any actual difference between different races in DA that makes them have different voice qualities, however.
