Welcome to the next three years of our lives.

Three years of expectations and suffering... hahaha

Anyway, I finally paid my tribute to Dragon Age. A tattoo photo is not fair to the artist, especially in the forearm (there is no perfect angle for it ,as our body are not plain as a paper and it will always look kind of deformed), but here I go (it's a huge picture, so I will hide it behind of a spoiler tag):

So what am I working on? Here's a picture: Shhhh

Spoiler

I'm getting vibes of a cloaked figure in the middle.

Sorta like a robed and Cloaked Jedi.

You know, I was getting some serious blues/withdrawal following the release of Trespasser and the sense of finality it brought, but nothing helps cure that better than some good old fashioned wild guessing and baseless speculation with regards to amorphous shadows flickering across screens. Ah, feels like everything is just as it should be; this is the BSN I know and love. :)

Then I zoomed in and tried to outline the main shape. Defo not flat at the bottom. Kinda looks like there are horns or some sort of protrusions at the top.

tumblr_nvves4l8481ubh1kvo1_1280.pngYeah that's what I saw. I thought banner with the frilly bottom but it could be a tower.

You know, I think I'm going to put 'the time the Twitter thread analyzed what was probably the reflection of Mark Darrah's phone' down with 'the night of the Fishquisition' and 'Too Many Females?!' as examples of our collective capacity to get excited about nothing :D .

They would've started DA4 ages ago. There's just not enough work for a full team yet. They need to have a substantial amount of the story writing completed before more people can come in and make parts of the game. It's likely they're not yet at a stage where any part of the story is certain.

I'd hope they have a few key plot points down at least, and the ending - which is a kind of a key plot point LOL

I suppose the story does go through a few revisions though as ideas are re-worked or improved.

But yeah Patricks job is the head writer for the DA franchise, work on DAI is done so it's fair to think he's writing an early draft for the the next DA game and dialog options and consequences would be a part of that.I guess he'd be writing the main character and the main quest line with the other character arcs to be handled by other writers as they get drafted in. Probably from MEA when that's done.

Just thinking about it, writing and RPG would be a tough gig, trying to craft a dynamic story that reacts to player choice as much as is possible. Books, movies, TV shows, etc are linear in story telling, a well made RPG isn't.

I'm pretty sure they have all planned. They just take minor decisions of when, where and how depending on a lot of factors. But I'd say next 3 games are planned if they ever happen. Short term is the hard part, long term for Thedas is pretty solid IMO.

idk about 3 games ahead, 2 I can believe, but looking at DAI I think the path they originally planned was a bit different than what they eventually went with. But you are right about important plot points being set much further in advance of minor & character plot points.

Gaider planned out the main story for 5 games. It was back during Origins' development I believe. Not every detail, but probably like the main core plot. Like stopping a blight, and closing the breach. Patrick is now lead writer, so I'm sure he could change anything he wanted to, but at least there's something there to work with for at least 2-3 more games.

Yeah, that's why I think they further developed it for now. Not only because of games but all extended material in tabletop RPG, world of thedas, comics, books, etc
