If DA4 decides on race selection (AND I HOPE IT DOES), and that decision is made earlier in development, I can see Dwarves and Qunari to get 25% or more (together).
Dragon Age: Origins had race selection baked into it from the start of development, yet 80% of Wardens were human.
(I completely agree about wanting race selection and more reactivity to it, but I'm not sure it will actually get more people playing dwarves and/or qunari.)

People play what they are familiar with and makes them the most comfortable. For many this is human male (even a lot of female gamers are just so used to playing guys that it ends up feeling more natural), and so HM is always going to be #1. I'm actually surprised they had so few humans in DAI. DA4 will almost certainly have race selection (DA2 was a back step, and Bioware admitted it by reverting to the full racial selection in DAI), however that doesn't mean every race will always be playable. Some DA may not include Qunari, some may not include Dwarves, some may include Cat People who may or may not live on Qunari controlled islands. Lizard People who live even deeper than the dwarves may or may not be playable in the future.
I think the increase in non-human plays is just because of a larger sample size (more people played DAI than DAO), and the growing familiarity with the DA setting. There are now people who really, really love DA dwarves, or DA elves. When DA was new no-one really loved DA anything because it was all unfamiliar and new. So in DA4 I'd expect fairly similar ratios of racial choices as in DAI.

I was disappointed when I first read this, because I'd been holding out the foolish hope that they'd told all the VAs whose characters might plausibly return to stand by for that possibility, but upon further reflection A. given all the uncertainties up until the last few months of game development, there is no way they'd ever do that at this stage and B. I should probably just be glad to learn that they didn't tell him

I'm not sure when exactly the voice work gets done, or when the hiring process begins, but going by some remarks by David Gaider, is seems like the game would be in actual development at the time. I wouldn't be surprised to know that currently they are still working on bare-bones writing stuff, plot outlines, etc.
That said, if the next game takes place in a certain northern locale like many are expecting it will, then I don't see someone like Cullen being in it at all, even if he's alive, well, married to the Inquisitor, and even if the Inquisitor is in DA4 in some capacity. DAI was the most extreme with the carryovers, but at least they all had a reason to be there and it made sense. Pretty much everyone aside from Dorian and Solas has no reason to be in DA4 if we're going north. And honestly, as much as I adore him, I'm hoping for minimal Dorian involvement. Fresh people please.

They only authorized the strike, though, did they not? As in, if negotiations achieve nothing, the union now has the option to legally call the strike into force, but no such strike has actually been called as of yet. The authorization is a bit of a mind game, really - now, when the union does threaten to strike, it is not an idle threat, because they have jumped through all the hoops necessary to be able do it. Kind of like having your gun loaded and your safety off, but you have yet to pull the trigger.

IIRC, Allegra mentioned that she asked if Josephine died in Trespasser and was given some info about that, so that's at least something, but I sort of doubt the non-gamer VAs would have done the same.
Okay... I know that they record lines out of context, and Josie's involvement in Trespasser was pretty minimal, according to her role as ambassador, but... how can you not know if your character died?? Did she just mean the possibility, like...
The ME Andromeda team hadn't cast a single character's voice actor by E3 this year, according to Mac Walters, and the game is due for release by the end of next year.
Even if the DA team knew that a particular character was returning, I doubt they'd tell the actor for months or years yet.
(And it's not like they generally use super duper famous and busy actors who need to book time off their other projects months in advance.)
