In fact, practically every non-sports game developed at EA now will use Frostbite, which - if you believe the hype - means a lot more improvements and refinements are shared across studios. In theory, it's meant to make development less costly and more efficient, since EA isn't supporting a dozen or more (two dozen?) engines across all their games and studios.
A potential downside to this is that you then get a lot of games with a similar look, though lots folks clearly made it work with Unreal, so I'm optimistic.

@user @BioMarkDarrah I love ME3 MP too! No plans for #Inquisition at this time - very focused on the SP currently; it needs to be great
If they do include MP in Inquisition, I just hope it'll have no bearing on the SP mode of the game...because eventhough they said it wouldn't, in ME3 MP did have an impact on the SP mode, less so when they released the Extended Cut...but it was still annoying <_<
I was hoping they wouldn't add MP at all, considering the combat mechanics the series uses (button mashing contest?). But now I'm curious as to what changes, if any, they would have made. I mighthave been pleasantly suprised.
And ya. Here's hoping this writing team is more conservative in keeping MP and SP completely seperate if its included. None of that crap that ME3 pulled.

Just to point out, this game (Sid Meier's Pirates) was made with the same engine as Oblivion

That was indeed Matt. He's Art Director on DAI as well (So DAO, DA2 and now DAI). :)

Thanks for the confirmation and for the info. It's strange that these games managed to look so different with the same person at the helm.

The change in art style for DA][ was intentional.

To what extent is a game engine tweakable by developers, by the way? Can they mess with the engine to make it do things it's not supposed to do? (I don't know exactly what I mean by that myself.) And is it really not possible for DICE to enable modding?

Ooo, the Timeline Editor shown at around 3:10 is one of the things I have worked on the most!

Getting more excited now that @PAXAus is just a few weeks away. We're talking Mass Effect and Dragon Age at panels. Hope to see you there!

Also, if you have suggestions for what you'd like us to talk about at @PAXAus, give us a holler.

Are you as excited about parallax animation in the iris as the guy in the video?
(But seriously, the faces do look pretty great.)

There's a light that is animated within that little cutscene, and part of our real time auditioning that we added (with help from Frostbite Vancouver) is all of the functionality to allow that sort of stuff to work.
Something similar existed in previous versions of Frostbite, but it wasn't very full featured and required a LOT of manual work to set things up. The new Timeline system has been set up to make a lot of that work, as well as the auditioning (as well as the fidelity while auditioning) easier to do. This to allow the designers to see how things are looking without requiring them to explicitly load up the game (and we also hooked up control so, when you're running through the editor, you can directly control the game's Timelines through the Timeline editor, which is something that even DA2 didn't have).
For you it might be "shouldn't all engines have that?" and I suppose that might be true. But it didn't before we started and it's cool to see the work we started now being used by other studios as well

Allan when you are talking about timelines are you talking about cutscene timelines or player controlled action?
The editor that I'm referring to is more cutscenes (and for us, especially conversations), although there's nothing stopping designers with the engine to have those elements play out while the player still has control.

Uumm, I have a question .. I have both my dragon age on the 360. So I was wondering if I buy an xbox one will there be a way to use cloud to transfer my savefiles to the "new" generation ?ty
Gaider said they have a way to transfer decisions but said they're not ready to talk about it yet. Seems a pretty safe assumption that it isn't just importing saves. They couldn't get it right before on 1 console generation so I doubt they could make it work across 2.

I've asked the same thing in this thread, also had a reply. Basically there's a problem transfering save files at the moment, But they are aware of the issue and trying to hopefully have it working ofcourse
Thank's to MageTarot who sent me this link confirming for me

Most likely do a "Genesis" like on mass effect which wasn't the best but aslong as it is able to add "all decisions" not just major one's for the ppl who actually took the time to play 1/2 thoroughly then i'll be happy
