Don't count on it. When they say "We can't talk about features" it means the feature being asked for isn't planned.

When do you guys think they'll make some new annoucements? Comic Con? Pax Aus? Or just pick a day themselves and put something up on the offical site?

I take a peek on the forums at least once a day now for any kind of news, and I'm most curious about the save import so I can start putting some serious thought on which next-gen system to buy.

The language they're using makes me think that actual save imports are not happening and that more news is a ways off. I would bet on a feature like the Genesis "comic book" Mass Effect had and the next batch of major news coming in the late Summer or even Fall. I could be quite wrong, but this is what my gut tells me. The game doesn't seem to be ready to be shown(since we saw no gameplay at E3) and they keep talking about choices carrying over, conspicuously avoiding mentioning saves and importing.

I'd always pick the regular save import instead of a interactive comic before but I guess that could really be great in this case. I hope they'd make it so for current gen also then so you wouldn't have to make some weird decision about either playing it on next gen with better graphics but having less impact on the world state, or current gen with an ordinary save import.

I wouldn't count on save importing for current gen versions either. They couldn't get it to work when all they had to transfer was data from one game so I doubt they can get it to work for 2 games into a third.

I'm on PC so importing isn't an issue for me, but couldn't they do something where you upload your saves to your Origin account(Origin is on consoles too right?) and then just log in to it when you play DAI on your next gen console and import your saves?

I don't know if that's possible but it sure seems plausible.

Afaik Origin is PC only. I don't see how it could even be utilized on consoles. But either way, imports were hardly functional for DA][ on PC. Zevran alive, angry Dalish on the Wounded Coast even if you killed them, etc.

Origin is actually on consoles too, or at least some kind of EA server connection

I liked the way ME handled previous choices with the Genesis I-comic. At the time ME2 dropped, I only had a PS3, so if they didn't take the time to create Genesis, I would've been SOL and stuck with the default ME1 choices, which I came to find out aren't that great.

It would be awesome if the DA team did something similar, an I-comic or short movie spanning two games and giving you the chance to make all the important choices in them. Just please, for god's sake, don't make it a DLC and charge for it. "Well...we have default choices in place for those who don't want to buy it...". No. Please don't.

But the Genesis comic still locked you in to a lot of choices. It also skipped many choices that had impacts in ME2 and 3, leading them to remove some content from the games.
People complain about the Genesis comic for good reason. Sure, it was a solution to a bad situation. But it was a pretty lousy solution.

Ironically the majority of people who complained about Genesis already had ME1 on Xbox or PC and they generally did so about stuff like Feros or no Conrad Verner or whatever -  essentially a series of choices that would have had little to no contextual significance to new players (who the comic was made for): stuff like saving Shiala or if you helped Parisini and so on.

All you would have done by swamping them with a hundred or so (most of which trivial) choices all at once, is make what was already a lengthy infodump unbearable as you droned on and on to ask them questions about whether or not they helped the Consort with the Elcor diplomat.

If you feel its not a good solution for you  I would counter that it wasn't designed for returning players, since effectively there were none on the PS3, but rather for people who were jumping into the deep end of the pool.

Heck, the PS3 user quoted above confirms as much.

I have to agree. Having Genesis is much better than having nothing, because at least then you had some control over some of the biggest questions, as well as context regarding the most important things that happened in the first game without delivering the mother of all infodumbs and a huge broadsheet of yes/no boxes. It was all but essential to the new PS3 players. Sure now that the first ME is on PS3 it becomes clear how very limited Genesis is and how much it leaves out, but for new players who are newcomers to the series, most of the info it leaves out is obsolete.

Of course a save file transfer is better, but interactive comic is better than nothing.

But... why are we even talking about this? Haven't the developers said multiple times that they're bringing save file transfer back if it is possible? I've heard they're having some problems figuring out a way to do it, but the game is over a year from certification, so I guess they have plenty of time figuring out how to implement that -- and if they can't, I am sure we'd get a heads-up early on since save file transfer has been a big part of the most recent BW franchises (ME and DA), so speculating about it at this stage is somewhat pointless.

You know how in search engines, browsers, game installations, operating systems etc in the settings there is a button you can press to see "Advanced Options"?

Is that so hard?

Again, Genesis was not designed to be a save game editor or file transfer creator or something comprehensive like that. It was simply designed to get people who had not played ME1 on the PS3 quickly up to speed and give them some limited ability to choose the major decisions from the first game.

Well, whatever they're doing now is supposedly being designed to replace the save import and not just for new players.

If it's as half-baked as Genesis that won't be good.

Why is that an excuse for removing and limiting content? New players don't like content?
They should have made the "comic book" more interesting and engaging. It was dull, slow and Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale both sounded sleepy.

Going back to a previous post I made, I know they are "Trying" to fix the Save Import issue, But I forgot to ask would this include Awakening's save's? No point playing awakening's if not so. I've been hunting for answer but just cant find any. If anyone has any kind of information on this I would be totally grateful as I don't want to play it 6 times and not have any need for the save file :o. So all I would like to know is: Play JUST Origins or Include expansion aswell ( I know it has some impact on 2 but not incredible amounts iirc) Thank's and sorry for bringing this issue up again, Just want to be 100% clear :). Thank yoooooou!

Totally agree with BasilKarlo here, The VA's really did sound disintrested and I felt disintrested because of it, Shame they left out so much "small" content so to speak like: "Mineral Collecting" etc which has small contributions but I ALWAYS get every mineral on every playthrough Just for the sake of it really more XP gives a boost to start of ME2 aswell iirc.

When I imported my save into DAII, I imported the final save from the Witch Hunt DLC after playing through Origins, Awakening, and the Golems of Amgarak (?) DLC. I'm not sure whether or not any of the non-Origins material triggered anything specific in DAII, but considering Morrigan's prominent appearance in the trailer, it's possible that the final decision in Witch Hunt might come into play.

To my knowledge, no one from Bioware has made any kind of firm announcement on this issue at all, let alone what choices might be relevant to DA:I, so I don't think you're going to get 100% clarity any time soon. So I guess you could play through Origins, stop there and play DAII, and if nothing's been announced by then start playing Awakening etc, with your Origins Warden. That way you could at least cover the two main games where most of the import stuff will be coming from.
