While I can't think of a specific instance with Leliana off the top of my head, it certainly wouldn't surprise me. Especially if hardened. And while Patrick may not have been on DA then, BioWare allowed the HoF to do some seriously despicable things in DAO.

Isn't it an option in the Harder in Hightown War Table missions for her to "question" the dwarf who wrote the fake novel, Worthy? It's pretty obvious from that, that they weren't going to be gentle with him.

You probably mean the line you can hear after entering the Western Approach for the first time.

As for Leliana, iirc there are a few war table operations where she wants to "persuade" as well. Can't think of any direct mention of torture.

Well no, it doesn't necessarily imply torture - they might have as well took the orders by force or simply threatened this person.

It's true, they don't outright say "torture". Though in pop culture, we so often hear "persuading" captured enemies associated with torture, that's the first place my mind goes to when I hear a line like that.
