Huh... why does this creature has a bowling ball pushed into its posterior?

I was literally going to post this. And I mean like word for word with the same emoji and image. ![]()

Is Solas a shapeshifter?
Patrick Weekes @PatrickWeekes
If he were, I can only wonder what animal the Dread Somethingorother might favor as his alternate form...
User
hmm. I was wondering if it was a case of religious iconography/an honorific being taken as literal truth.
User
but if the obvious answer is correct, then color me over-analytical
thank you for your response!
Patrick Weekes @PatrickWeekes
It's possible, and I wouldn't rule any magic OUT for someone that skilled, but anything more would be a spoiler.
Yeah he can shapeshift, alright. He shapeshifted into the form of a Thedosian Elf.
Solas is being literal when he tells you he doesn't want you to see what he "must become" to deal with the Veil, etc.
That's because.......

Brace yourselves! ![]()
Seriously though, I started a new DAO pt the other day as mage origin. I noticed around the tower this blackboard with this Cthulu looking head. Later, down in the secret vault while trying to break out Jowan, there were two of these little cthulu looking skulls. They were rather small, but..oh and that one statue of the multi limbed...female..with wings. I can't get a pic of it.
I just mention all this because I never really noticed these before.
That little secret vault in the mage tower has some really intriguing items. As well as that talking statue. Oh, but who knows where half that stuff may be these days, with the mage/templar war and all. I would have loved to have that talking statue at Skyhold.

While I know nothing about Cthulu, beside how he(?) looks, I listened to this song some time ago and it made me think of Dragon Age.
Carol of the Old Ones
I'd have loved to have had Eleni Zinovia at Skyhold, too.
I am the essence and spirit of Eleeeni Zinooooviaaaa. When the final path is trespassed, and a golden nug stands tall upon your hearth, only then will your pajamas be forsworn.
Ah, that was her name.
Haha, that would have been awesome!
Real talk, I mentally consider the end of Trespasser to be more cosmic horror than classic fantasy. There are moments in that sequence that are vaguely unbalancing, in a way that I can't fully pin down. Moments where, even though everything is in the context of Thedas, I, as a player, felt small. I'm usually pretty jaded when it comes to villains. Even complex/interesting ones. So to have one genuinely unsettle me... that was an odd experience.

Solas is a Prothean (the ones here anyway) and Thedas is the time before the events in Mass Effect - the destruction of the Veil brings the Reapers. Muahahaha *cough*

Guys have you seen on twitter Patrick Weeks said something about writing a novel.

The song you posted made me think of that one.
And that one made me think of all the things that could happen... in DA4... with Skyhold. Gah.

I hope these Cthulu things are just references/general themes of, like, "Old Menaces lurking beyond our knowledge" or something. B/c if its more thematic than homage, things are gonna get depressing as hell, real quick. And not in the "My fade boyfriend just stomped on my heart." kind of depressing, but an "Abandon all hope and embrace madness." kind of depressing. Cthulu is fun to read/listen to (Solas' VA even did an audiobook for Call of Cthulu, so I've actually tracked that down on youtube to listen to lol), but the premise is really sad and hopeless, IMO.
Also Rift Mage spec (Solas' spec) is this picture:

Well after the more white washed direction Inquisition took, this would be a welcome development. You can't have real moments of happiness and feelings of satisfying victory without despair.

Yeah, but (and correct me if I'm wrong) I don't think you really get moments of victory in the Cthulu mythos? At least not lasting ones. Usually the last word involves the main character being driven mad or devoured or something horrible, with this ominous vibe that the big bad is still coming and we are nothing more than ants. Enjoy your pointless existence, humans, for it is soon to be snuffed out! The End.

Now, if we beat Cthulu, I am 100% on board with this. lol
Yes, for a true Cosmic Horror Story, your actions at best delay the inevitable. Also, the antagonists are unfathomable in their magnitude and horror, and to look upon them will lead to a revelation of your insignificance within an uncaring universe. This helpful pamphlet will provide more details:

Dragon Age ain't really a Cosmic Horror Story. Its villains are monstrous, but can be challenged. Good sometimes wins the day.
...and *that* is no wolf.
Okay, you guys are freaking me out right now.
Its an entertaining, fictional, horror universe some guy in the 20s thought up with his buddies while they were high, that people continue to add to today. Don't worry about it. ![]()

He has his own book series, not related to BioWare.

You guys are awesome. And I never snapped to the Rift Mage Spec. That is...an interesting detail.
Even if things do dip into any Cthulu mythos, I think it will still just be dipping. As in, we will be able to...hmm...neutralize..any threats. At the same time a Cthulu type creature/s--if not following exactly the Lovecraftian path--would just be another form of being. With advantages and disadvantages to that way of being, just like us. Strong points. Weak points. It would be a matter of discovering the weak spots and creatively exploiting them.
I ain't scared. Bring on the Cthulu! I got some garlic, butter sauce right here waiting for ya, Son! ![]()
I talk alot of smack. lol. Those things show up and I'd be like:

And "helpful pamphlets" ftw lol!
