Basically he said they listened to players and decided to go back to an epic sweeping story instead of the more personal narrative style of DA2.
It's not impossible to have both. I'd consider The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant a very personal narrative despite it's "epic" size and scope.

To me it sounded like the figure behind the helm and what the rings and helmet meant were not supposed to be important of themselves. The idea behind the image, of the figure offering the helmet to the viewer, was meant to be like an invitation. Sort of like the 'Join Us' slogan of DA:O, I guess, but in picture form.
Yeah, that's a nice way to put it. I couldn't really remember exactly what they said, but I remember thinking that Cameron was suggesting the rings and the figure were symbols rather than a literal representaton of what was actually in the game.
Though, I don't think he did explain the rings, did he? Even as a symbol? I get the "helmet being offered to the player" thing, but not the other part of that image.
(There's also the person-with-rings unsheathing a sword that has a dragon head as the cross-guard, is that meant to be the Inquisitor too?)

Yeah, that's why I was confused - normal dragons we've seen in the past don't have that style of horns.
Their used to be different species of dragons before the "extinction". You find a book that talk about the different Nevarran dragons species in one of the game. I don't remember which one, but it's probably the Circle Tower in Witch Hunt DLC, it seems to have the most link to DAI too.

*nod nod* He said they got a lot of questions from fans about what the rings symbolised and who the figure was, and the answer was (IIRC) that it was just meant to be a cool-looking promotional image they whipped up to look inviting/engaging, not to promote speculation on the details of the image.
Though, I don't think he did explain the rings, did he? Even as a symbol? I get the "helmet being offered to the player" thing, but not the other part of that image.
No, he didn't explain what the rings or anything stood for, just the image as a whole.
So they may or may not even be in the game.

Well, I got the impression that the person in the helmet image wasn't meant to be the Inquisitor at all, but a nameless, faceless, promotional meta-figure. That said, I don't think the person in either image is supposed to represent either the PC or an NPC...or that's what I got from what Cameron was saying.

Have they posted the recording of the panel?
Three hours ago Gamespot said they were uploading it, but internet quality at PAX Aus isn't the best. I'll post it when they do.
This user deserves some kind of award, slap on the back, freshly baked pie, a hug even!

Yeah I'm not super happy about the "slight" qunari redesign (tinier heads set against super even more massive shoulders than before... too comical).

Maybe Iron Bull is actually a shapeshifting mage and that's his dragon form?

They kinda failed at linking to the actual post, but the thread page is close enough.Polygon wrote...
Dragon Age: Inquisition developer BioWare is making some changes to the dialogue system seen in the studio's previous games but isn't getting rid of it, said Inquisition's developers during a PAX Australia panel today, as reported by one of the attendees on the BioWare forums.
Btw I do encourage people to read Polygon if you're into gaming. They have great articles, and the comments are usually free from trolls.
[edit] Bah fixed con name, sorry about that.

I wasn't extremely happy with the kind of hunched over look in the trailer, but if he is a bit bulkier than the Arishok I wouldn't mind it. I liked the new concept art.

DG linked to them on Twitter earlier... however, just in this article alone they incorrectly say that Patrick Weekes is the lead writer. And I don't know what self-respecting journalist would link to a forum post. So... my quest to find good journalism on gaming continues lol

The fact that they at least admitted the source is a plus, not like the ring-around-the-rosey source citation on a lot of sites. I hear ya on most gaming "journalism" though. You should at least give them a chance before you condemn on one article.motomotogirl wrote...

To be fair we've only seen a specific Qunari so far. Those horns are a dead giveaway that it's Iron Bull. It's entirely possible that he's just farkhuge.

I'm almost sure I've seen a dev saying that the Qunari in question has a name, so he may be a special case.BasilKarlo wrote...

Having said that, our indie games were amazing and I'm very glad this is my job. I noticed the bioware devs getting to lots of the indies, too, btw.
(Btw, check out framed and black annex, if you get the chance.)
Also, how do you know that's iron bull?

You lot are allowed to rag on games journalists when you've spent three days at a con carefully interviewing every indie team and missing every panel, OK?(I got the bioware one but that was it.)

Right now, the only Qunari we have seen is surprisingly big compared to the rest of his race and if what I've written in my previous comment is correct, it's likely that this guy is Iron Bull.
