This is pretty old. The same guy appeared in a sort of trailer (if one could call it that) even before DAII.

shrugs.
Mp is mandated by EA.
Bioware has no choice in the matter.
As it is they want to get the sp right before going to mp.

Hi, so David Gaider has posted a link to Matt Rhodes discussing his concept art for ME and DA2. I found it fascinating and pretty damn awe inspiring. Here's a link if you're interested. Also Fenris torso tattoos!

I think this is the best BioWare blog so far.
And Tali... god, they should have just gone for it. Really break the Tali-mancers when they see their beloved Quarian was actually a goddamn ugly-ass bald alien with pale skin.
They should have kept that design but kept her eyes beautiful. It would have been such an awesome contrast, almost poetic really. Damn, what a shame.
SOMEONE REMAKE MASS EFFECT 3 ALREADY!

Back to reading Order of the Stick, thanks for the link

I wonder how much of DAI's concept was once in the works for DA2...

EA doesn't mandate multiplayer, they mandate online functionality which is something Origins and DA][ offered to EA's standards according to BioWare.

That's not actually true.
Some sort of online or connected functionality is mandated by EA, not necessarily multiplayer.
We've already heard from devs that DAO and DA2 arguably satisfied this criteria by having the online social features and ability to upload gameplay data/Warden info.
It doesn't rule out multiplayer for DAI, but it's by no means enforced by EA as something that absolutely needs to be in every game.

One day I'd love to get an inside account of DA2's development, given that so much of DAI seems to be things that were planned for its predecessor.
I doubt we ever will, but it's really interesting to see how much gets made/planned and then is never used.

Like BasilKarlo said he went back and clarified that games must have some online component. He even gave an example that said something to the effect of:
"Well, it's not only about multiplayer, it's about being connected,"
he replied. "I firmly believe that the way the products we have are
going they need to be connected online. Multiplayer is one form of that.
"So
I don't go up to every game team and ask – what is your deathmatch
mode? I look at how to make games a broader idea with online services."

An "online component" does not equal multiplayer. It never has.
Gibeau explained it himself - online connectivity means things like DLC or online services to keep people engaged past a purely unconnected singleplayer experience.
Chris even said as much a few months ago.

Have they even hinted for MP? I more got the implication that it would be some online-integration, like a place where you could show of your characters and your progress through the game.
Not quite. EA is asking that all games have an online component. Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age 2 both had online components (being able to upload screenshpots to the BSN, redeem online codes, etc). Dragon Age 3 will have some form of online component as well, but nothing we can discuss yet.

Again, that doesn't mean DAI won't have multiplayer if they want to reveal it later this year or next year - but the idea that EA is enforcing mandatory multiplayer on all their games is a myth.
