@Mike_Laidlaw Was just wondering about the name of our MC and whether it will be set like DA2 or will we have different based on race
@DragonTheorist Different family names based on race. Same as Origins in that regard.

Awesome, I was hoping we'd have names other than "Inquisitor".  :wizard:

This is good news.

I'm honestly getting VERY excited for Inquisition. I never hated DA2, but it did put a sour taste in my mouth so I was leery of Inquisition and what they would do with it. If there's an enticing pre-order bonus I will probably cave and pre-order again.

That one is new, it seems he has horns... Iron Bull?
Still, his jaw doesn't looks as grey as a Qunari skin, so he could be a men wearing a weird helmet.
Or maybe it's just the quality of the pic and the guy is a Qunari.

EDIT:
You know? I think it's Vivienn... This would explain the two-color face.

Guys, I don't think that people will call us by our family name since that would mean tripling the lines of the voice actors...I think they will just refer to us as Inquisitor or commander or whatever.

Then he could be Dorian... His appearance there matches with the description of his personality.

I don't know.

Varania only said Danarius promised to make her a Magister. It's possible he was lying, and she was in such a poor and desperate state that she wanted to believe he would use his wealth and influence to make it possible. Maybe there's no jure law that says elves aren't allowed to be Magisters, but maybe de facto practice makes it highly unlikely?

I don't know, I just don't see the Imperium that enslaved the entire elven race, kept them enslaved for millennia, and continues to enslave them to this day being willing to break centuries of tradition to offer power to their society's dregs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that Tevinter is the kind of society where the strong rules and the weak obeys.
In other words, more power = better social status.

It's possible for an elf to become magister if he/she is powerful enough.

If that is Vivienne, then the other lady on the left (the painter) must be a different character.

I can also spot Stroud and Sera (?) in that image. Is the second from the left Dorian?

So why did the humans as an entire race enslave the elves as an entire race? Why keep them as slaves for millennia? When Andraste challenged Tevinter, the elves were the first to answer her call because they were still all slaves and desperate for freedom. While there were also human slaves at the tie, lmost all accounts at the time point to elf = slave.

When you talk to Fenris about Tevinter, he'll mention how their Circles didn't last because the Templars weren't trying to control poor peasants, but the scions of the most powerful families, that had nursed magical talent for centuries. Again, all signs point to elf = slave at the time, and the magisters were already trying to inch back their power. I just don't see them willingly losing more of it by offering their coveted positions and bloodlines to their slaves.

I remember that Danarius has elven ears

As do I, though the cynic in me still doubts the elven parent was an equal to or magister like the human one.

In Tevinter, slaves are not always... untouched by their masters, and that coupled with eternally human offspring creates a potential to reap the benefits of elven magic in their bloodlines without giving up their racial superiority. In many past cultures, children of slaves and concubines could inherit if they were the right gender or whatever. (Dwarf noble-hunting, anyone?)

Just speculation on my part, but I still find it hard to believe. People in power don't share it, and Tevinter is not known for sharing its power.

EDIT: So far, there doesn't seem to be a clear answer either way, but this is my interpretation.

Yep, I'm almost certain that the other woman is Sera and not Vivienne like some think:
In theory, Sera is an elven rogue and all the images we have seen so far seems to match more with her than Vivienne.

My biggest "evidences" are their personalities, it has been said that Vivi is the kind of person that can fry you if you don't treat her with the respect she thinks she deserves, on the other hand, Sera is more childish and frenetic.

Now, look at the pic of the Inquisitor going ape towards the table:
The woman on the right looks a bit shocked, this doesn't fit with Vivienne, someone who is as "cold" (We don't know if she is cold, or simple has a massive ego ) as her wouldn't react like that... That's more proper of someone like Sera.

I think the overly dramatic guy with his hands on his head (I love him already!) is that magister Dorian, not the chevalier. Looks like he's wearing magey robes.

Hm, we already have concept art for Sera though (that's her on the left, it looks like):

Posted Image

That image looks nothing like the dark-skinned painter lady wearing golden gloves/boots.

I'd say they're all different characters - Sera, Vivienne and the painter are three possible members of the Inquisition, we just don't know the name of the painter yet.

I'm not saying this either. I think we will have large set of companions to play with and we are still don't know some of them.
