It's clearly a declaration of war against Melisandre and the red priests. The Great Other has clearly manipulated the Bioware writers.

Eleni Zinovia: The prison is breached. I see the encroaching darkness. The … the shadow will consume all.

The picture appears to be of the Deep Roads. Is the "shadow" of Eleni's prophecy linked to them somehow?

It's a spritiual metaphore.

The light is linked to the Maker/goodness and faith in the DA setting. While the shadows and darkness are linked to the Old Gods, the Taint and demons (dark emotions).

That may indeed be.  If it helps, the quote appears to be from the Chant of Light, Threnodies 8:21.

Even more super super super happy I was able to snag a Saturday Pass a couple days ago!  (I had only been able to get Fri, Sun, Mon originally)   Wonder how many hours we'll have to wait in line for this bad boy.  <_<

I think it may be more than a simple metaphor , Coripheus was looking for " the light".
I don't think he was looking for a candle , but "the light" must be something .

I wonder if we may learn a whole new story about the chant of light now , it seems it may be something important in Inquisition.
And that would make me soooo happy , my dream to play a badass Brother Genitivi could come true!

I must say, I'm so happy to be getting outta Kirkwall. And this is from someone who actually enjoyed DA2. But, yeah, more adventure and cool/interesting  places. Yes.
