Otherwise, I'm betting they are keeping up with the ferelden PC theme.

I hope not. It gets pretty old and improbable if every PC for every game is from Freledan.

Wasn't it the Frostback Mountains where dragons first reappeared? So you have Andraste, dragons, Flemeth, the Warden, Hawke and potentially the Inquisitor all coming out of Ferelden. Seems like it may be intentional, don't you think?

And that is bull****.

Oh I hear you have a problem in Andersfeld, sorry gotta wait for some Fereldan refugee to make her way all the way up there, because only Fereldans can solve major conflict.

What is that you say. Want to do something about it anyway. Sure, just wait while I go get my villain stamp.

^The above is how it works every time there is some measure of a chosen one (and if each protagonist have to be fereldan, we have a 'chosen country'). Add to that Fereldan is the country most bland.

I personally hope for a Free March protagonist to tie it to da2 (like they did in da:o), or an Orlesian protagonist.

And the Theirins with their dragon blood and what not. Like someone said before, maybe the Fereldan hero thing has something to do with Flemeth. Also, I feel like a Fereldan PC would be easier to cast a voice for. I have nothing against French accents, but to me it'd be easier to find and cast a person who can do UK accents as opposed to a good French one.

Raises hand. Sick Fereldans right here. I would find another Fereldan very annoying.

VERY.

The problem isn't with the French accent, it's the type of accent or how it's done. I found Marjolaine and Lisette(?) from the Denerim marketplace very annoying. Duke Prosper was okay, though. I quite liked Riordan and Leliana. The Conte de Launcet was also fine, even though his wife and daughters were blech. A number of the people, servants and guests, were quite pleasant to listen to in MotA.

Besides, the Inquisitor could be from the Free Marches, doesn't have to be Fereldan or Orlesian. I always imagined the Free Marches having several accents, or dialects anyway.

I read a dev tweet yesterday that said we would be mostly in Ferelden and Orlais.
I wouldn't be surprised if the PC is Ferelden yet again.
It is kind of annoying to me tbh. Kind of tired of the British accent.  A french accent could sound fine, so long as it isn't overblown the way it was in MotA.

I know. But I can't do much more than say that I don't want to be Fereldan and hope bioware at some point take their: "It's about a world", seriosly and realizes there are other countries out there.

Hey im a derp with french accent. I already hear enough (too much) foreign accents over voice communication in multiplayer games, and I can tell you french people have really bad english (Ive been in Paris), and a real accent to be honest wouldn't make it any better whatsoever.

So basically you don't want a French accent because...you're xenophobic? And because you personally are xenophobic and therefore don't want a French accent, you make spurious/data-less claims about how a lot of other people would be unhappy with a French accent too. Cry me a river, build me a bridge, and get over it.

Oh my, you went to France and found that the people there spoke "bad" English! Here's a hint: it might have something to do with the fact that they speak French in France, not English. Since you were speaking to them in English in the first place, I think it's safe to assume that their English is better than your French. You should broaden your horizons a little more.

That is still identified as bloody Fereldan. I do not want to be Fereldan.

I want a Scottish accent like Sebastian's.

French accent would be okay. Some of them can be a bit much to take, but I'm sure they'll do fine, especially for the PC voices.

Perhaps i made dataless claim, but doesnt mean it is untrue. The only accent that would be okay is one of many different english accents, whether its scottish or irish or mix of any of those like in Game of Thrones. I have no problem with foreigners, but I dont like foreign accent because its derived from their main language, which yes is foreign to me. And no english isnt my first language, and i said french got bad english because well its true in comparison to some other countries  like Denmark, you barely notice the accent and most of them speak english acceptably well. And people in Orlais for example, they dont speak french either, so... thats beside the point, I know most people will dislike their main character (which they empathize/rp with) having a foreign accent like french, german or russian, because it would make it much harder to get into that, and that role.

Besides at very least, one can admit that you would prefer 'normal' accent over a foreign one in any game. I mean how many western games are there that have main characters with foreign accents? I don't recall any that I have played. If protagonist is not fereldan he could be from any other place and still have non-foreign accent. Even qunari who are most alien, dont have foreign accents, they are just gruffer.  So I think as long as he is not orlesian its fine.

If you know of a good orlesian accent that you think would sound good for a PC for an entire game, link it please, because what i expect is this (compared to how real french speak , thats good)

Hah. As a person from Denmark I would have to disagree. We just speak english understanable for Scandinavians and other Norths European.

I still remember when the International class in high school (the class that spoke english ALL the time) had an native english speaker, you could clearly hear the difference, and I am sure that a lot of people coming from south or east europe would think our english as difficult to understand as you find french.

Also have you heard who the two people we place in official positions dealing with foreing matter speak english. Not good at all.

Your understanding of foreing english is also depends where you are from and what kind of english you was raised with.

Personally I liked Riodarns voice.

Totally on board with that.

Besides, they also could make the protagonist to have Leliana-like accent. I heard no complaints on her pronunciation ^_^ Quite the opposite, actually ^_^

Okay ill confess, ive played wow on european servers for a couple of years, and talked to different kinds of people, and i insist that young danish people spoke english very well with very subtle accent in comparison to norwegians and swedes, and finnish people. Germans and french people have everything in their country in their native language and studying english isn't really mandatory for most things, which is why their english is bad, many dont speak english at all. And the accent is anything but subtle.

I liked Riordans voice too but I wouldn't want my PC to talk like that , hah.

Why don't we compromise and have our protagonist have a Gibberish accent?

Thanks for the link. I haven't played all of MotA variation too see all of Dulci's responses. I found her hilarous personally. I hope she comes back in DAI (along with Cassandra's VA...same actress you know).

As for the rest of the talk here, I'm tired of Ferelden protagonist as well. I hope we are Kirkwallers (not Ferelden refugee Kirkwallers). This would actually allow for the races choices coming all from the same place (plenty of dwarves, elves and even Qunari if they include it) and the local accent was quite "english" as far as I remember.

Free marcher could be good. Kirkwallers had american accents. That would be easy to cast. We assume that stark haven is all Scottish, but there are other cities in the free marches, maybe they have american accents too. We could always start out there, who knows.

You know... now that I think of it, I didnt mind Ezio's accent, i quite liked it. So Antiva wouldn't be so bad ^_^.
