Orlesian Mustache Guy (I'm really not sure where the idea of him being a chevalier even comes from) is holding a spear in one hand and what looks like a dagger in the other.  Seems like a dagger rogue with a penchant for spears rather than the sword/dagger combo.

Might have something there.

The main event on Saturday US time at 1:30 will be streamed live at: http://www.twitch.tv/team/pax

The other panels are apparently going to be recorded as podcasts and put up online, like they did for PAX East (I think it was).

Thank you :)

Well maybe the spear is a staff?
I mean mustache guy has no real armor , he's sort of wrapped up in some white blanket ...
Maybe Mustache guy is Dorian the magister , he sure doesn't look like he belongs in Tevinter and he seems a bit "flamboyant" with the facial hair and everything?

After reading the comics, his 'stache sure gives me a Tevinter vibe. Have you seen Aurelian Titus's beard?
I thought he was Dorian too at first (I thought the spear was his staff), though he's got a sheathed sword on his back.

Be that as it may: I so want to romance the living hell out of him

I had originally pegged him as the Tevinter Mage too, but when the majority of BSN thought it was the elf I second guessed myself.
If he is a mage, he would probably me a more melee focused mage, possibly even an arcane warriror which would be FANTASTIC!

Another thing is the exiled magister mentioned by Maevaris in the comics. Which sounded like it could be foreshadowing, since Dorian was also described as an exiled magister. The exiled magister Mae spoke of was a very talented healer. That doesn't gel well with the idea of an arcane warrior, at least not for companions who typically have one spec from a character standpoint.

I think it'd be a nice break from tradition if none of the party members save the inquisitor really had a clearly defined class per se. Instead the characters could be defined by a diverse set of abilities (you could have a person with magic abilities who instead prefers to use them for things associated with other classes like picking locks or bashing) and not "has staff, casts fireball and healing spells, is mage".

Of course, everybody would just try to categorise them anyway and still complain about numbers...

Well, she isn't included in the image (I was talking about that image specifically)

As for Leliana, my bet is that she's one of the "agents" and I'd say Cullen is one as well

A 6-3 split male to female I hope this is not the case. DA 2 was 5-4 split this would be a large backwards step.

DA 2 was 4-4 dude.

Sebastian and Talis are DLC ones so they don't count.

I'm clearly grumpy and need sleep :P

Hoping for some good news from the panels in the morning. There's meant to be one on crafting and customisation so hoping some BSN people will be attending.

Ok I counted Sebastian since he was out on day one. But you are probably right. That would make a 6-3 split even worse then.
I have since read that DG has said that all the people around the table in the concept art that has fuelled this mock up are not all companions so my initial disquiet at the unbalanced gender breakdown is actually unfounded.

Replace the Chevalier with a female Dwarf rogue and that's what I think the DA:I party will be. The gender, race and class ratio's fit much better, and since we'll likely be visiting Kal'Sharok it will give us a companion to act as a representation of the issues there, which is something they've spoken about being keen on.

I think with 9 companions it will be difficult to get an even gender representation. Unless one of the nine is Day One DLC.

But as far as that picture is concerned, I don't think the 'Chevalier' is a companion. I'm thinking either he is the Grey Warden or just an Agent. Though I would argue the qunari character could potentially be more interesting as a female warrior Tal-Vashoth, having dealt with the struggles of wanting being to be a woman warrior in the Qun. Unless the character was never actually part of the Qun.

And on the subject of romances, if we assume an even 2/2 split and that companion line up, we'll take Cullen as a given, if only to avoid the total apocalypse of the internet, then we're left with either the Grey Warden romance, (maybe close to his Calling?), or Dorian as the 'elf option' for the males, (I like the sound of Dorian, if only for the hilarity of a possible qunari PC romancing him). For the female LIs, I think the most likely are Sera and Cassandra, (poor Vivienne). Sera because of the superior ears and the fact her early concept art makes her seem typically beautiful and Cassandra because she's so obviously awesome. Kind of hope I'm wrong though, but it seems Vivienne may be 'doomed' to be the Aveline of DA:I.

Yeah  I read that DG has either blogged or tweeted that not everyone in the concept art this picture was derived from was actually a companion.

True, I was just speculating about if that companion chart was somehow the truth, which I honestly wouldn't mind. Personally, I think the bulky qunari will be just an Agent. I don't think just being a unique looking Tal-Vashoth should warrant companionhood, and if he is some sort of mercenary, that may well suit his position as an Agent. But who knows, he could be everyone's favourite companion, or even romance.

I really don't think Cullen will be a companion. That picture is actually pretty interesting, because placing the Warden next to the "Cullen," reveals that they are wearing very similar armor sets. Perhaps one is an early concept for the other? Ah well, we'll see.

The main reason I discount Cullen at this point is the fact that we already have two warriors that we know for sure are followers (Warden and Cass), and I think the next most-likely warrior is the Iron Bull. That, and the fact that I've taken a shine to Mr. Moustache; I want him to be in my party, hahaha.

At this point, depending on what class Mr. Moustache turns out to be, I think female dwarf rogue or warrior will be what we have leftover. I'm thinking Warrior, so our W:R:M ratio would be 4:3:2. There would be at least one human follower of every class, two dwarves and two elves, and a Tal'Vashoth to round it all out. Gender breakdown would be 5 Males to 4 Females, which is as good as it'll get with only 9 companions. Unfortunately we have zero evidence for a female dwarf warrior right now, no matter how pretty it would make the numbers. /sads
