Discuss elsewhere. This thread is the only one I get information for the coming game. I would hate to see it getting closed.

@Mike_Laidlaw My impression here: what you have been showing from DAI seems quite polished. Does it really need a full year to release?
Mike Laidlaw @Mike_Laidlaw 21h:
@Huminds It absolutely does. It’s a big game, not everything reaches a polished state at once.

Also, saw several dev tweets about the Frostbite DevDays conference in Stockholm I think is happening this week for all the EA folks working on Frostbite. I'd love to be a fly on the wall there. If I see the devs tweeting anything interesting from the conference I'll share it.

@Josh_Rodeen @bioware I suspect there will be some DA folks there, but I'm not entirely positive. We'll post on the BioBlog when certain.

I disagree that either of those games were failures in general, but I think they've acknowledged publicly that DA2 went too far in trying to make a game in about a year - why is why DA:I will take three years or so by the time it's done. That a game was rushed in 1-2 years, and received a poor reaction, doesn't then mean they should take 6.Savber100 wrote...
Which is funny because ever since that decision we have gotten the general failure that is Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3's magnificent ending... All of which would have benefited from a longer development cycle imho.
And frankly, from a business perspective DA2 might've even been more profitable than DA:O - it sold fewer copies but also had a much shorter development time. That doesn't excuse any gaps in quality that many, many people have complained about, but at the end of the day the developer *must* balance the game's interests with making money (or the demands of the publisher).
ME3's case looked like a few strange choices in storytelling and priorities, not a lack of resources or time. Do you think an extra year would have led the lead writer and executive producer to rethink their whole design for the last ten minutes or so? In hindsight, yes, of course you and thousands of other fans wanted something different, but what would an extra year or two have meant for the game's profitability?

I only had a few minutes to scan this video, but is it roughly the same demo and gameplay as what we've seen before?

The "leaked" in the title is a bit misleading IMO, considering that the video is just a recording from DigiExpo.

I'm glad they're taking time on the game..I would hate for it to come out and then people make videos like this (take note EA)

(Also people seem to be tweeting Mark about it, worried, because a lot of the articles use the word "leaked")
Mike Laidlaw @Mike_Laidlaw
@user It's pretty much the same demo we showed at PAX.
Edit: and actually, the video quality of the recent one is *far* worse than the one we saw a while ago. weird.

And the combat (spells used, abilities etc.) are slightly different than the one for PAX.

Probably, the video finally made its way to Neogaf and got noticed by someone that posted a newsbit on his popular website.

People go ga-ga for "leaked" things, apparently. It holds more credence as being accurate since it wasn't supposed to be released, according to some people's mindsets.

One day.
(yes, the 'leaked' bit was baffling - especially when it's already up from PAX, and the event in Finland was clearly open to the public)

As I have said before, I am glad they are taking their time with the game, but I am glad it's not going to be 5-6 years. Plenty of time to get my Let's Plays done and rework my saves when Dragon Age Keep is ready for us to fiddle with.
I'm glad the game is already looking pretty polished. I hope that means it will look that good and run that well when it comes out.
I'm just glad to have another DA game though to be honest, since Dragon Age is my favorite series. (However, when I need something to punch me in the feels, that is what Mass Effect is for. Not that Dragon Age hasn't done that at times... *cough*)
