Aaryn just tweeted this as well, but the PAX demo had a recorded voice. When referring to the Synthesized voice he was referring to the text to speech during development before lines are properly recorded.

(Note: The voice is often unintentionally hilarious)

:o Oh man, hopefully it's a placeholder voice. Or something. Cause that fellow has the personality of a tortoise lol

Mr. Gaider just added a part 5 to his "nuts and bolts of game writing" series. Not really Twitter, but since I linked to the first 4 parts, here's the 5th, this time with more talk about budget and cuts.

http://dgaider.tumbl...nd-bolts-part-5

Thanks for linking those Kallinachus.  I think that series should educate people a bit more about writing for games and all the vast challenges that you face.  Some people harp about BioWare not taking things into account (see the example of the mage hawke/templar quest that had to be cut) thinking it is just 'lazy writing'.  Until someone sits down at the computer using a toolset such as NWN or the dragon age one and does some writing they can't realize what game writers face.

This last installment was particularly insightful. Writing for a game certainly sounds like a daunting, thankless , task. I respect the DA team even more for managing as well as they have.

Can a setting be introduced where the synthesised voice replaces the main VA in game?

It would make for an interesting playthrough, haha.

Hi mike,Will there be a cinematic trailer for DAI?

Mike Laidlaw ‏@Mike_Laidlaw

There will be something. I dunno if it'll meet your criteria of "cinematic"

Oh. I was talking about something like sacred ashes trailer for DAO. That was mighty cool

Mike Laidlaw ‏@Mike_Laidlaw

Ahh, gotcha! Probably not; Frostbite 3 looks good enough we shouldn't need an externally developed trailer.

Don't feel too bad. CDPR does awesome trailers without CGI. I think sacred ashes can be replicated through the game engine alone. Not DA:O's, but looking at DA:I, I wouldn't be surprised.

How will The DA Keep work? We will import data to this program/site and import it in DAI ? Can I import data from PC to PS4 ?

Mike Laidlaw

You put data into the keep, and then all versions of the game draw from the keep, yes.

What about importing my save files from DA:O and DA2 on PS3 to the DA: Keep, will that work? Then to the PS4.

Mike Laidlaw

We're still looking to see if import will work, but you will be able to do a setup regardless.

I really, really hope they get the save file import working. I'm not looking forward to entering all decisions from six DA:O playthroughs and six DA2 playthroughs by hand. Not to mention, that I don't even remember what decisions I made four years ago. :?

It seems like the importing of save files would be very hard to do, since it kind of defeats the purpose of the keep in the first place in terms of avoiding and fixing all of the bugs.

Yeah, but I would still prefer importing a bugged savegame and manually "repairing" it to entering all variables manually. Besides, there's no way I can recreate everything that happend from memory. It would result in a world state that is even more inaccurate than a bugged import. We'll see in a few months, I guess.

Trevor Morris (Composer) Favorited this tweet.

''@MorrisTrevor Hows work on Dragon Age coming along? If it's anything like your Tudors music I'm damn excited!''

Could this be confirmation that he is working on DAI?

If you can't remember the choices you made then why does it matter if you have to punch them in individually or not? You wouldn't know the difference if you were able to just import.

I get your sentiment, really, but all I mean is look at it from the dev's perspective: they can't release a buggy product to the public. I'm sure they'll try their best - resource depending - to implement an import feature. But there are reasons why that might not be possible that don't amount to indifference.

I thought one of the advantages of the Keep is that you can muck around changing worldstates easily without having to go back and actually play the game again for 50 hours. Rather than just importing six playthroughs you can see the results of dozens of different combinations on Inquisition's story.

The only situation where not having direct save imports could be a bad thing is if you really value the "idea" of associating your DA:I file with the hours you put into the earlier games - but as Basil said, if you can't remember the choices anyway it hardly seems to matter if you need to recreate a save file.

(Though, I know this is brought up *too* often, but if the DAO/DA2 save files don't contain visual/chargen information for the Warden and/or Hawke, or they can't be imported at all, any appearance in Inquisition would have to depend on whatever can be defined through the Keep.)
