I found a lot of his posts recently really interesting, there's a great one here on how as a writer he uses parts of his own experiences to write for characters.

I believe David said he wrote two of the followers, but he could be referring to a non follower. PC's antagonist perhaps?

David's wrote Cassandra and another companion, plus lots of NPCs (Morrigan and others).

The give up smoking resulted in him getting 10x snarkier, so I expect a lot more snark in his character dialogs.

This seems to be a very good possibility. The concept of Freedom/Personal Autonomy has been a very central theme to a lot of the characters he's written for Dragon Age (Zevran, Shale, Morrigan, Fenris, Anders). It seems like a topic he enjoys writing about, and I don't think he's really gotten that much of a chance to write the other side of the story, from the point of view of the oppressor rather than the oppressed.
