I doubt I'll get in myself. I wrote the application after being awake for over 36 hours straight, and I think I was barely coherent. I tried to send a different one later, but. alas, that is not possible.
Oh well...
Congrats to all who got in!

So far, you are the only four to have come forward (as far as I'm aware...). So... maybe this initial round is a thank-you to their biggest supporters?LolaLei wrote...

Other people got betas too, right? Not just YouTubers, cosplayers 'n' that sort of thing? I dunno, it doesn't seem fair if the first wave went to just people that are known to them.

More will come out in the new year though, the rest of us will just have to (must... contain... jealousy...) umm, be patient.

If they have only sent it to youtubers so far, maybe they want some videos out to give first impressions? I am totally expecting videos about the keep from you guys. If they give you permission that is.
I expect this is the reasoning as well. Possibly con attendees they've met and other people.Cleatcleat wrote...
Makes sense. Cosplayers, youtubers, long term forumers would be more willing to keep to the NDA than random people. I'll bet on the NDA ending / being lifted when the larger beta invite wave goes out.

Depends on how well the person is known to Bioware. That's why I also went more specific into con atendees that the devs may have met.TinuHawke wrote...

I find this whole 'random people'-thing a bit odd. So someone who joined this forum last year is less trustworthy than someone who is a cosplayer?

It could also be assumed that those who do cosplaying, youtubing, etc. would also be more likely to give constructive feedback as well than just randomly messing around with it for the sake of wanting to mess around with the keep.DoomHK wrote...

Someone who is known to BioWare and a number of people are easily more trustworthy, and more likely to adhere to an NDA. Random people on the internet, regardless of whether or not they've been on the forum for a while, are immediately less trustworthy than known individuals.

I hope so! It shouldn't just be us, that's not fair otherwise.

So you got invited into the beta too? Congrats!BasilKarlo wrote...
I understand why BioWare doesn't want details of specific plot points being referenced from the Keep beta, but why can't we disclose what it looks like or how the interface is designed?

Indeed, indeed. So while it would be nice for random people to get access to the Keep Beta sooner rather than later, people have to remember that it's a Beta in a true sense of the word, and they're out to collect constructive feedback. Therefore, priority should be given to those that are more likely to provide it.
Perhaps if those parts aren't finished yet, they don't want misleading photos to start appearing online, with people making assumptions about something that's not ready. If the interface and appearance are still in flux and are able to be changed based on early beta feedback, perhaps they want to make sure that the final versions are nailed down before they show it publicly.BasilKarlo wrote...

I don't think it really have a lot to do with who is more of a fan than the other, just how visible are you to the developers and what is your relationship with them? I'm sure there are hundreds of youtubers, cosplayers, artists and fanfic writers who've been overlooked simply because they aren't known to the developers. It's all about how visible we are to the devs which these particular people probably are.TristanHawke wrote...

A lot of people on here aren't just 'random' people though. They are just as big a fan as any youtuber or cosplayer (I love the youtubers and cosplayers by the way.) I don't make youtube videos about Dragon Age or Cosplay, but does that make me any less of a fan? I don't think so...
Anyway, it's early days. We can still hold out hope for next year.

To handpick those who are offered those beta invites is to make a statement about the kind of peoplefeedback Bioware value and appreciate the most. Not the best approach from a PR POV is it?

Naw, they're playin' favorites. They're choosing people they like for the first batch simply because they can. That is the way things work. Must be nice for a fan to feel appreciated. I'll just be over here in the corner... crying.Kali073 wrote...

I think that isn't really what Bioware is trying to do. They probably just pick fans that are more well known to them because they believe they can trust them to not break the NDA. A random fan from BSN can be very knowledgeable about the franchise but Bioware has no way of knowing how trustworthy they are. One guy further up the thread said he wished they'd pick him but added he'd break the NDA in 15 minutes - hardly what Bioware wants.
