To handpick those who are offered those beta invites is to make a statement about the kind of peoplefeedback Bioware value and appreciate the most. Not the best approach from a PR POV is it?

Oh for heaven's sake. They're completely in their rights to select anyone they want for their own beta test.

Are you really upset about not getting access to a beta launch for a companion app? Since when did the Keep become so important?

It's useless anyway until Inquisition launches, and they've already said there'll be much larger groups of beta testers accepted before then.

I agree. I can understand that some people are disappointed, though. It's a psychological thing. They have been rejected, and nobody likes the feeling of being rejected, whether it is a job, love, friendship, or just a beta application. But those people (like myself I might add) have to bear in mind that in the end the chances of being picked were minimal to begin with. There were more than 32.000 applications. In the first run they need a few dozen people, I guess. And later maybe a few dozen or maybe hundreds more, but that's it. That leaves over 31.000 people who will inevitably be rejected. The cances are high for everyone to be one of them. No need to feel bad about it.

Gaming company always select people with high web presence as beta testers so they can be ready to spread the word once the NDA drops. It's all about publicity, not so much about testing anything. Although, they might keep secrets better too, in fear of having their reputation affected if they leaked something.

There is even a term of these type of people, but it is escaping me this morning.

Can we please take the Keep discussion to the Keep thread?

There's been three pages about this topic here and barely a handful on the actual stickied thread devoted to it.

Fair enough, but that means the thread should be quiet for a few days, while the bellyaching about not beig picked for the dodgeball team should be moved to thread designated for that topic.

At office because a completely unoptimized #DAI doesn't run on my 6 year old PC.

Would it work if it was optimized ?

I prefer remaining unimportant. Less pressure. ;)

Besides, I don't wanna see any Beta of anything. I want the full on "magical" First experience, with all the T's crossed and I's dotted. Thank  you very much. :wizard:

That said, Congrats to all who did get the early Beta! Give them some great feedback, please. We're counting on you guys....see,.no pressure. Lol!

Please don't try to put words in my mouth ElitePinecone - mine was a point about the (in)equity of Bioware playing favourites and the message that sends to everyone who applied for beta access in good faith, not a complaint about my not getting an early invitation.

A lot of people on here aren't just 'random' people though. They are just as big a fan as any youtuber or cosplayer (I love the youtubers and cosplayers by the way.) I don't make youtube videos about Dragon Age or Cosplay, but does that make me any less of a fan? I don't think so...

Anyway, it's early days. We can still hold out hope for next year.

:D

Yeah, I think the same :)

natural that some people would resent celebrities being chosen. It's natural and should be understandable and forgiveable.Certain fans shouldn't try to police this thread and tell people how to feel. They are fully capable of coming to terms with it on their own.

We should try to get back discussing the game and any tweets that have been made by anyone associated or whom we suspect has been associated with the game.Deleted tweets if there are any and if anyone has seen any.

Bioware picked known entities based on their knowledge, devotion to detail, and putting an inordinate amount of time for the game they love.

Sounds better than picking random applicants to me.

But entirely unscientific!

But when has this been about science?

It might, depending on what machine he has. Code optimization is a huge deal and if the coders are brilliant wizards they can do wonders. It can be all about hunting milliseconds, but if there is a lot of code the totals would be large.

Bioware is a corporation owned by a very big corporation. So what will benefit (feed) the corporate beast the best will be picked first. At best the local Joe's an Joannes will be last if picked at all.

I guess I'm kind of surprised that a guy who has devoted his life to video game development doesn't have an up-to-spec gaming PC? :) I'm sure as a Producer, he could possibly get EA to spring for it at best, wrote it off as a business expense at worse...?

Found this on the ME thread:

Casey Hudson
@CaseyDHudson
"Exciting times around the studio. Playable internal builds of the next Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and new IP. My task today: play 'em all!"

I'm doing a happy dance!

That's not fair.Nor fair at all.
So they have those FOR ALL 3 GAMES.Not fair.

Who is the lead writer for the new IP ? Find it curious there wasn't an official announcement. We heard about the Gear of War guy coming to the ME team but nothing about the new IP writer.I find that strange.

smiles.

I think it was once confirmed to be a video game.... but that's pretty much it.
