I presume they found someone. It must be important enough for them not to promote it to someone already working at Bioware.
Gaider didn't start out as a lead writer after all.if you read the Gaider wiki.Assuming it's true.I would have liked them to have promoted someone from within the organization.
At Pax there were people from the DA teams and the ME teams interviewed. No one from the new IP was interviewed.
I am curious about all the secrecy.Makes me think it's more likely a starwars related product.

Isn't Casey Hudson working on the new IP? I believe that was what he said on the GameInsider interview. I could be misremembering, though.
I think all we know about it is this - I cannot recall any other confirmed team members. They are keeping it super tight, and letting us distract ourselves with DAI and ME4, which is just fine with me. I'm pretty excited to know little-to-nothing about it! Unlike DAI, I am going to avoid it as much as I can so I can go in to it with as little fore-knowledge as possible, just like when I first played DAO and ME2.

Would be a good trinity, a scifi (ME), a medieval (DA) and a modern era rpg (new ip).

I guess we can assume the new IP is an rpg, or something with rpg elements.
I'd laugh if it was Candy Crush clone, honestly.

well..if it's a starwars product what could it be ?
We've had KOTOR.
I doubt it could be a movie tie in based on the upcoming movies.Besides it has been said any games made involving starwars won't be tied to the movies that are due to come out.
Of course we've also heard there will be movies made outside of the starwars pantheon involving Han, Luke and Leia but set in the starwars universe. Possibly a movie about Boba Fett , that was mentioned. I would like a movie about Wedge Antilles myself.
I would have to give it more thought about events from the movies that could be spun off into a game..<_<<_<

It won't be Star Wars from what little we have heard. Apparently it's a "clean sheet" new ip, so it'll be a brand new franchise.Angrywolves wrote...

Good question, if that is in fact what's happening. It might be that anyone they think could fill that role is already working on existing ip. DA & ME are going full steam and maybe they want to keep their core writing teams together. Could be desire too. Down the line I wouldn't be surprised if some writers gravitate from other franchises to the new one.Angrywolves wrote...
If so I wonder why not promote someone to be the new lead writer ? Why hire someone new from outside the organization, someone who had produced in the past a AAA game ?

I would love it if BioWare did a spy thriller RPG set in modern day. A spy video game with the tone of Casino Royale and/or The Bourne Ultimatum that forces you to make touch decisions and lets you feel like James Bond would be fantastic.

But without all the issues. Alpha Protocol could have been a great game but the plot has serious problems, technical issues cause gameplay problems, and an overall lack of polish make the game feel sloppy.

My understanding is that the next Mass Effect is being done by the team that made the ME3 multiplayer, and the ME singleplayer team is the one working on the new IP.

Fingers crossed for a western.
Agreed. If they were to make a game that was equal parts Bioware RPG and Red Dead Redemption, then that would be a sight to see.
