I can't remember where Schumacher's comments were but here's Trent Oster's take on it:

Google Bioware's cancelled spy game and you'll see several articles about it.
I think Mike Laidlaw (or someone else?) at PAX mentioned that some stuff they had started to develop for that game (mechanics/system/tools-wise) were being used in DAI (same with some elements of the cancelled DA2 Expansion). Was it called Revolver? Anyways, I seem to feel that the "walk away from convos" mechanic that Laidlaw is very excited about had its roots there. I could be totally wrong though, a lot of PAX feels like a fever-dream because I was very excited and I could , therefore, be mistaken.
Interesting, I hadn't heard that - do you mean Revolver was the name of the technology, or the cancelled project? As far as I'm aware from reading the few articles about it, the spy RPG had a focus on digital acting, but they couldn't convince EA that it would work (or sell well, I guess).
I know Mike said they'd tried to do walking away from conversations a few times before, and DAI is the time when they've finally got it working well.
