I prefer to know more about some of the areas we will definitely be going to (not all, I don't want all info about anything), mechanics, abilities, and a lot more about the Inquisitor's possible backgrounds. If a dwarf where am I coming from, am I Carta, merchant, casteless, exile, etc. I know there will be specific reactions based on race (and specialty in some cases) but will there be small quests specific to race/background which can further our knowledge of the Inquisitor's background? I don't meaning anything as involved as the Origins stories, something more on the level of 'Finding Nathaniel' in DA2 but slightly more fleshed out. Actually, Leliana and Marjolaine might be a better example, but Inquisitor specific rather than companion specific.
I would also like to play with the character creator ahead of time. Create your look and then see it in action in a quick tour of a marketplace or something.
Will there be a journal we can make notes in? I know, probably not. Will we still be able to take screenshots? Sometimes I like to pause a battle and move the camera around just for picturetaking. One of these days I will probably make my own DA scrapbook, LOL.
Will there be a test for PC users to check their current system against the needs of the game? I have a good computer and feel reasonably sure it will be enough but I'm not technical enough to look at all the specs and know for sure if what I have is good enough. If there is a test and my system is good enough will it recommend settings based on the current configuration? Too much coffee, I think I'm getting a bit tangential or just plain long-winded so I'm going to stop and go over there. Now.

I'm sure people in that age range play DA already, but the games' content is a fair bit heavier (intellectually and in terms of some of the topics) than what most young adult media aims for.

It might be a situation where you can accept or deny his help after a confrontation, sort of like Zevran. Optional companions have been in the last two DA games, and David did say in the past (I can't find the link now) that many of Inquisition's characters could have joined/left the party along the course of the game.
Is this what you were talking about?
It is possible for a party member to end up hating the PC if approval gets low enough, yes, and it can come to a crisis point with that character-- at which point they may even leave for good. Or other things.
http://social.biowar.../index/17225147
And he also said this aswell.
That's a little different. I think most of the party members in DAI are optional or dismissable--if not all. For other characters, or party members that aren't, it really depends on whether the story offers an alternate route around their death. Sometimes we'll endeavour to put that in, if we feel allowing for their death adds something worthwhile--but we don't feel it always is, particularly if the amount of work required to provide an alternate path in the story is enormous in comparison. Naturally, the mileage of a particular fan on that account is going to vary, especially when it comes to things they believe are worthy of summary execution

Anyway Iron Bull might or might not be a companion, it's to early to tell yet since he hasn't been shown in the party andwhat they said was very vague because they weren't allowed to talk about his involvement in the game. Sera, the warden, and Bald Elf guy mage seem to be more likely atm given that they've all appeared at least once in a party and how many other times they appeared.

It's a similar situation to DA:O or DA2, but from what Gaider was saying it seems like more of the party (if not all of them) can be dismissed, or might leave on their own, or might never be recruited at all, depending on the circumstances. That seems much higher than in other recent Bioware games, which is interesting - the story sounds fairly flexible and fluid, which I think is a good thing.
On the Iron Bull, he was also included as a prominent character in the marketing survey that came out over a year ago - at the time, I think the consensus was that the list of people were meant to be companions. Here's his bio from then:
The Iron Bull: The Iron Bull is a long way from home, and prefers it that way. A slap in the face of typically humorless Qunari, he loves drinking, killing, and looting-not necessarily in that order. The head of a vicious mercenary company, he’s known for excellent pay and brutal punishment. It’s been a ten year party, but the Bull may find that old loyalties die hard.

I know that he was rumoured to be a companion and his bio due to the survey, but he said that not everyone in there was a companion or have changed significantly in a few threads including this one.
I'm not going to say whether she's a companion, or if she's even still in DAI. Not every character mentioned in that survey was a companion, and some of them either no longer exist or have changed signficantly. Hence why I have said before not to hold it up as gospel-- you may be very disappointed.
social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/371/index/17126310/3#17133428
I'm hoping he's a companion but it could go either way right now, guess we'll have to wait for it to get officially confirmed either way but if he's not a companion he could be an important npc or agent or someone we work with or capture and use for information or something who knows.

We know that we have 9 companions, nothing was said about temporary characters, at least I don't remember.
Even the 9 companions can be lost through the game. We don't know.
Nine characters are recruitable, but this doesn't mean that they will always be with us the whole game.

It's exactly like DA:O. Every party members in DA:O could be dismissed and/or killed in the course of the game under specific circumstances. Going by Gaider's quote DAI will be no different.

Gee what's the hot stuff now ?
An rpg version of the Hunger Games ?
An rpg version of Twilight/New Dawn ?
An rpg version of Pretty Little Liars ?
Not making fun of Darrah of course.Just don't see the attraction for such a niche audience.

Pretty sure we've got plenty of posters in that age range....:innocent:
Parents here in the US don't police what their children play to any extent at all.,
They have no idea what mature means for a video game.
I could see temp companions, they're with you for a quest that concerns them and then leaves.Like Tallis did in MOTA.
I think it was fast jimmy who pointed out it's Bioware's pattern to have at least one dlc companion, so I guess we can expect one of those at some point.

My money is on Cullen being an asset but not a companion. We've already got Cassandra, the Grey Warden and Iron Bull as likely warrior companions so I can't see Cullen taking a slot as a 4th warrior companion and 3rd sword&shield warrior companion.

I'd say Cullen, the bearded Grey Warden and Sera (or a character similiar to her) are safe bets.

I'm hesitant to say the Iron Bull will be a companion. I can see him as a major character, certainly, but perhaps more along the lines of Letho in the Witcher or an advisor/mercernary working for the Inquisition.

I didn't mention Harry Potter by the way. You just did.
Seems that EA is making new IPS other than just the one Bioware has, and yes I read that somewhere, so it's possible.

I don't know, to my mind there's been a lot more evidence so far for the Iron Bull being a companion than for Cullen.King Cousland wrote...

He was in the survey under a list of companions, he's been in a bunch of Inquisition concept art (including one set in a tavern that seemed to show a bunch of people with the Inquisitor) and there's been a fair bit of unsubtle dev hinting. If the bio above still holds true for the final game, then the Iron Bull even has a companion quest (related to ten years earlier, before he became a mercenary) like Dorian/Cole/Sera, if they're still in the game.
Granted, it might be hard to tell at this point which characters will be companions and which will be major NPC members of the Inquisition, but my gut has to go with the Iron Bull being part of the party - I just don't think NPCs would get the kind of attention he's been getting from Bioware, even a year and a half ago when he had a bio in the marketing survey.

I agree that our likely warriors are Cassandra, Beard-Guy, and Iron Bull or whoever, but you mentioned Cullen as a S&S companion. It was confirmed that companions are not restricted within their class anymore. So Cassandra, for instance, can be 2-handed or weapon and shield. I'm pretty sure they're stuck with class weapons though. Also, I suspect Varric will still be restricted because of the custom animations, but who knows.

Pretty much but Varic isn't completely restricted though since Gaider recently confirmed he can be made to use melee weapons but Bianca itself will be restricted to him and another devs hinted at him being a one bow dwarf.andar91 wrote...

http://social.bioware.com/%20http:/social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/371/index/17705320/3I don't believe so, unless that's changed recently. You can have Varric equip melee weapons, but Bianca still remains in his inventory and he won't give her up.

I think the safest bets are the grey warden, Sera,Bald Elf Guy Mage, though I do wonder if they're going to give warrior a third set maybe cross bows rather than dual wielding which seems very unlikely given Laidlaw's statement on dual wielding during the podcasts and his Twitte.

I would let my 11 (almost 12) year old play a YA game but I don't let her play DA (or any M game). She has played some ME 1 but she's only interested in exploring worlds in the Mako and doesn't care for the rest of the game.
