The last I saw, David had written two romance plots, as well as supposedly two companions and a few other NPCs - though some of those might overlap.

That leaves about three quarters of the companions for the other writers, and who knows how many major and minor NPCs - I think they need all the writers they can get, given that some of the Mass Effect writers (like Sylvia and Patrick) have been working on DA:I for a year or more. I'm sure the regular DA writers (Sheryl, Mary, Luke?) have a companion or two, and I remember hearing that Jennifer finished a lot of content before she moved on to other things. So it's not like David Gaider is singlehandedly writing the entire game :P

(And didn't Mike Laidlaw say he was going to start doing some writing to free up the larger plots for the main writers?)

Mary Kirby has both Varic and Vivienne.

Luke K has at least one of the which is the blonde elf though she isn't confirmed to be one, he is writing her character.

Gaider has Cassandra and one other companion.

So 4-5 out of the 9 have writer's that we know of, I wonder who's writing the rest of them and who they are.

I don't think Lambert is dead, I know it has already been covered in this thread. But it makes sense for Cole to possess him. Cole knows that the only way he can exist outside of the fade is to kill people or possess someone.

Also, the Lord Seeker doesn't have the litany memorised. He reads it from a book.

Cole was under a false delusion that killing people let him stay in the living world. He is no longer under that delusion and he still exists in the living world without a body. He is a different kind of spirit, obviously.

I'm wondering if the people who still think Lambert is alive are the same people who also think Duncan is still alive?

Anyway, I hope Mr. Gaider will eventually reveal which character he was referring to when he said that bit about finally being able to write the character he had been waiting on for so long. For some reason my mind went straight to whomever the antagonist may be. I also thought of Flemeth, being able to finally tell her story, mostly because she was in both The Stolen Throne, and DAO. I'm just guessing though.

Patrick Weekes has Iron Bull as his Twitter avatar, which isn't exactly confirmation but I wonder if he's writing him.

While I'm here, a recent tweet from him.

The character he's been itching to write in a game is a follower (so companion), so it's either Cassandra or the "other one". His quote from the 2013 retropective: "got to write one follower who I’ve been itching to write since I started writing for BioWare 15 years ago".

I only recently got round to David's most recent DA novel in Asunder. Really enjoyed it. Hearing that it could have some bearing on DAI is very cool too.

I believe they said they'd have some new info "very soon". I'd be surprised if we didn't get anything by the end of January.

Francisco Melo (@discobabaloo on twitter) mentioned in their Christmas announcement of first round Beta invites for the Keep that more would be coming in the New Year - so any time now I think.

Also ignore the fact the last time they encountered each other he dispelled Cole with a few lines of text.

You tend to forget the Litany is effective at dispelling spirits as well as combating blood magic, Lambert knows the litany and therefore he doesn't even need his sword to combat cole.

He has to speak a handful of words and cole is banished back to the fade and when he returns i doubt Lambert would be in the same disadvantaged position again, he picked that moment because in a stand up one on one fight hardly Any one in thedas can match a seeker.

The knife was already at his neck. What's he gonna do, say the whole litany before Cole can swipe the blade a few inches?

Zatche wrote...

If he was dead, why would they leave that open? The big reveal is "oh, Cole did kill him after all." That would seem a bit pointless to me.

Why does it have to be a big reveal?

You think a warrior with decades of martial training and has better situational awareness then most couldn't hold a blade away from a vital point long enough to recite two sentences? But namely to answer your question, he couldn't but he doesn't have to.

You grab the blade or the wrist holding and then recite, and personally i think Lambert could overpower cole considering that he seemed pretty fragile and flimsy most of the novel.

Admittedly if Cole had struck while he was asleep Lambert would have had no options, he would have died but he didn't and therefore Lambert does options.

My understanding is that spirits cannot exist outside of the fade without going insane. I thought the implication was that Cole was killing people in order to somehow retain some form of sanity. Either through the act of killing itself, or through power he absorbed from their blood. If it were possible for a spirit to exist outside of the fade for a long period of time without employing any other means, Justice wouldn't have needed Anders after he left Kristoff's body.

Cole doesn't have a physical form. How would Lambert simply overpower him? Cole knows he's a spirit at that point. Lambert has no recourse.

So your answer is that you have no in-world evidence to support it, but you like your idea better? Fair enough, I suppose..

Maybe I am mixing things up from earlier.Oh well, I can admit when I am wrong.:(

But I am glad to have that cleared up.<_<

I guess it's possible they stole writers from  the ME team, or from any new writers they hired for the new IP.

Maybe when they release the companion list we can get a better idea of who did what and when.:wizard:

Basilkarlo said:

So would that make him a suitable companion ?:?

*snip*

I remember that a long time ago he wrote something either on Twitter or his blog about how Cole mirrored the loneliness he felt when he was younger and bonded him with Cole or something to that effect. Mind it's been a while, but that's why when they said an Asunder character would show up I jumped on Cole, well that and the survey leak, but mostly that post.

Could be that writing him is therapeutic or maybe there is an aspect of his character we haven't gotten to see yet. Who knows.

Oh, gosh, now I feel bad abt not liking Cole. He just creeped me out. But okay. Okay. If Cole is a companion, I'll try and do right by him.

I mean. heck, Sten did sum pretty gruesome stuff, too. So..yeah. i just don't know abt the whole possesed Companion again. I feel like we did that w/Anders/Justice already.

Edit: if it's Lambert that shows up..and is actually Cole...Would Cole still have the mentality of a child then? Or would he take on aspects of Lambert's ego? Idk.

hmmmm.

Not profiling Gaider but:

" Cole mirrored the loneliness he felt when he was younger and bonded him with Cole or something to that effect."

He's done alright by himself. 15 years at Bioware Was it that long ?

Some people are loners by nature. Most people aren't.

I wonder if we could end up with another Anders type situation but Lambert with Cole this time.Sheesh I hope not...
