David Gaider @davidgaider
I just finished a marathon session to write what may be one of the most satisfying dialogues in DA3. I shall sleep well.
Satisfying for players, or for Mr Gaider's unrelenting thirst for fan-tears?

If you side w/mages and don't have Fenris totally maxed one way or the other. He'll confront you w/ a pack of Templars, and tell you he's bout to kill you.
I didn't believe him at first. I let him get in some good swings...with the great sword I bought for him. And the skills I gave him. I didn't want to kill him. It got to the point, however, where it was him, or me. RIP, Son.
Then he disappeared into the ground....
He did the same thing to me! And I also ran around for a while hoping to not have to attack him, hoping he'd come to his senses. After all we had been through, after helping him kick Danarius' ass... He still became a traitor. Good riddance I say!

What do you think to do in the future with Dragon age? There can be you write the book? Or there will be a comic book?

It's not like there are books and comics flowing from the halls as we speak. Not at all!

The bolded part is interesting, to me, in that it suggests (perhaps obviously) that the publisher or project lead specifically define and target varying levels of quality. Fans - who aren't privy to the internal facts of development - can go absolutely ballistic if there's the slightest hint of a lack of polish, even if there are entirely good reasons why that design choice was made.
I mean, if a game is on a strict deadline for financial reasons ("get it released in x quarter because we need the revenue") but there are clearly not enough zots or time to get it up to a certain level, it's probably going to be released with more cuts and compromises, a smaller design scope, etc. Or it could be that to a publisher, releasing Game ABC even if it doesn't exceed the quality of a predecessor makes more business sense than paying for an extra year of development.
I guess it's not something we're used to hearing - that projects can actually "aim" for less than super-high quality, because the exigencies of game development (and pubishing) require it. Marketing or PR just don't mention compromise, and it's rare that developers would indicate that a project is comparatively not so awesome (except maybe until a while after release?).
(It also kinda seems like DA3 has a different design scope than its predecessor, and that they're aiming for a qualitatively more impressive game that has a quantitatively, metacritically better outcome.)
