David Gaider mentioned having to do a complete character re-write of one that wasn't personally his, I believe (if I remember rightly), so it's possible he was referring to Jennifer Hepler's character.

I'm pretty sure it was in one of his tumblr posts, though it seems I was already corrected that it apparently wasn't confirmed whether it was a character he wrote or someone else. I could have sworn it was a third character seperate from the two he's mentioned writing, though. 

Hmm...

I'll try having a look through his tumblr posts when I get home! If I can find it, I'll be sure to post it!

Yes- We have no more woman in party except Cas ans Vivien and mythical Sera (blonde elf) who is suppised to be written by Luke Kristianson. So I guess Partic's char is MALE LI.

They talked about mages more in another one or was it eariler in that one lol, anyway someone asked them if the the non mage ones will diverge and they said thar it's likely that only the mage one's will be the ones that diverge and be different so they'll have 3 of the slots with some possible different permutations.

Good question, not sure yet though it's highly possible we could be a keeper or a former keeper, the first or a former first, or apprentice for the first position given what we know of them which is they usually only have a few fully trained mages in each dalish camp and if they have to many they give them to other clans.

Maybe for Dalish Elf Mage you are travelling to a new clan to be a Keeper Apprentice there. That is one background that might be a legit one that can happen and it makes perfect since if another clan is in need of an apprentice.

I mean most likely because then why make them Dalish to begin with, but I believe there are Dalish mages who get passed over for Keeper or First duties, especially when  you compete not only with your fellow clan mates but members of other clans as well. No.

Apart from Varric, Cassandra and Vivienne, everyone talking about the party is just guessing.

We can make some good assumptions based on concept art and gameplay footage, but nobody really knows the roster of companions yet.

The very most I can come up with is 7 out of the 9 companions, and that includes characters that could've been replaced or changed since we learnt about them - while also leaving two slots for characters that we currently know nothing about.

I the Dalish Mage background is a First, which I find more likely than starting off as a Keeper, I suspect their clan won't survive the Veil tear.  There's your motivation for joining the Inquisition right there.

Hm.

The devs have described our character is "founding" the Inquisition rather than necessarily joining it. If the Inquisition's rise is directly related to the events that open the Veil tears, I would think it happens all pretty quickly, and with not a lot of time to find out how the rest of the world is doing. The initial attack and founding of the Inquisition was suggested to happen in Orlais (perhaps in Val Royeux itself), and so I think it'd be unlikely that, say, a dalish clan would be hanging around with the future Inquisitor.

As in, I think devs have suggested that we become Inquisitor because our character happens to be at that place at that time (and maybe because we're the only one to survive the event, among other mysteries), and so it won't necessarily have a reason that depends on our class or racial background. A Dalish Inquisitor might have their unique explanation for being near the event when it happens, but the process for actually starting the Inquisition seems to be fairly common for all backgrounds.

(Unless, I suppose, there are dialogue options where the player can choose a reason for wanting to protect the world?)

Not sure where I've seen it exactly (tweeter or thumblr), but I remember reading recently that a Qunari get to become Inquisitior because there are people who think it would work because they understand the Qunari. So I think we can agree that someone (or a group) put the Inquisitor is charge, which also makes me think that you aren't given a choice to refuse (sort of like the Warden in DAO).

Until we know more, I will still speculate that the Inquisitor pre-Inquisition was actually "unknowingly" working for whomever caused the Fade Tear and the reason to become the leader of the Inquisition will be either revenge or "making things right" from the player point-of-view (and baiting the big bad from whoever is putting you in charge).

Well at the moment there are two female companions and one male one.
So yeeeah, the Patrick's character is going to be yet another FEMALE LI.
And if the majority of the companions are female the higher the chances of me being left with someone disgusting (in appearance and/or morals) to romance.

There were a few concept art pieces that showed an elf with black dreadlocks. Perhaps that's what Janus is referring to.

There was an old concept of an elf with a green Mohawk/Ponytail from awhile ago, they're probably the same character just ones and earlier version of her, in the game informer video it looked like she had greenish hair in it and they changed it blonde if it's the same character.
