Hm, I think Epler means avoiding that situation in cutscenes, not normal gameplay. 

Some people might have an issue if the game decided to mess around with where party members moved during normal gameplay, and it's a bit redundent when the player can take control of anyone at any time *and* has the ability to set positions and give orders, etc.

Shades are the true form of demons outside the fade or spirits of the dead who somehow made it back to the land of the living. Hunger demons are extremely rare (supposedly) and sure can take the form of a shade. We see one in Awakening during the fade bit  in the Blackmarsh and another one during the Deep Roads Expedition in DAII.

I think it should be a demon of despair, which was confirmed before the E3 trailer.

Although, the version seen in the PAX gameplay video had a bit of red in it, not just black and white.

As I remember from the PAX demo, it was a red sword, too. But not too sure about that.

Hunh. I don't remember seeing this version at all last time, but this recording of the PAX demo includes a really interesting introduction at the start by Mike Laidlaw and Mark Darrah. There's even some (blurry) concept art that I don't remember seeing anywhere else, and an outline of what the Inquisition is and what it stands for.



(It's also in one big video, whereas I think the other version was split up into three or four)

Can you post a link to that? I'm not sure if I've seen it. I've seen the one where the Warden, Morrigan and Leliana are fighting darkspawn and Morrigan shifts into a spider, and I've seen the one where the Warden, Sten, and Morrigan are climbing up a mountainside.
