Seeing Patrick's tweets, it occurs to me - I wonder if the writer of the various bookna(Gaider in the past, Weekes now) get any sort of royalty deal? Or is it a structured set payment? Or, heaven forbid, is it just "part of their job," for which they recieved no additional recompense?

Geez, that would be terrible. Errrr... in my mind, at least. Obviously good exposure to have your own novel and the support team of having EA finance publishing and provide services like editors and whatnot... but I'd be bummed if I wrote a book that sold one million copies and I didn't see a red cent of it.

I'm overwhelmingly sure they would get paid for it. Probably some kind of royalty deal, but at the very least some sort of bonus.

Surely no company would ever ask its employee to write a novel on top of their usual job as a writer, without payment, that's crazy. Probably also illegal.

(And EA - disastrously - outsourced the last Mass Effect novel to a non-Bioware writer; he would've definitely had a contract of some sort.)

The shirts are quite a bit older now too.  They still call the game Dragon Age III: Inquisition too.  So it wouldn't surprise me if those types of things have changed.

Ah, that's an excellent bit of dialog.

It's a bit of a debate going on in another thread. I never have seen it as magic, but I'm curious and I don't think Mr. Gaider would mind answering.

Sounds frustrating. I hate it when that happens in Skyrim and that isn't even a bug, at least I don't *think* it's a bug.

Probably. We tried adding lots of wildlife to coax it down, but it burned them all and carried on. Grumpy dragon is grumpy.
