@Mike_Laidlaw when can we see some of the other playable races in action?
Mike Laidlaw ‏@Mike_Laidlaw
@MichaelWindham2 Certainly this year. Not sure exactly when, though

Well of course this year Mike, if not before, when the game comes out. Damn he's silly :D

unless it gets pushed to 2015. but yeah when i saw that tweet i was confused lol

*shudder* don't suggest such a thing!

A guy from EA said it might be delayed it if they feel there are enough AAA games published by them on that period (Release it now and get a portion of the cake, or later and get half of it)...
Then again, this was before the whole polemic with BF4, so I wouldn't take him seriously.

Why does the head writer have the hardest time making sense of the lore? He keeps using that ridiculous example of German heritage/German nationality. It makes no sense and I have no idea why 'Kossith' gets so far under his craw. We're talking about the games on forums and such, not demanding that he and his fellow writers start using the term in-game. He's essentially arguing that we should refer to races by their predominant religion. Why not call all humans 'Andrastians'? Sure, more than just humans follow that religion and a word exists for the race, but so what?

Seriously, the hell is his problem?

It is like there is a Jewish faith and a Jewish ethnicity. A jewish person who does not follow Judaism is still jewish and a african man following Judaism is also jewish.

If that still does not make sense then I really can't help you.

It's old, but I'll try to find it.

EDIT:
Found it... And again, spanish gaming sites showed me how bad they are at translating news.
He says "We might have DAI this year" and the others interpret it as "We may not publish DAI if we have too many games"

I found that blog post awesome. Especially the "with their pedantic insistence on everything belonging to a category and that category defining what they are".

It's like the Qunari were... a fandom.

He never says you can't use it.

Here's a quote from the blog which you just linked to...

Is it OK if fans use “Kossith” for the race name?

Yes.

Are you sure?

Yes. It’s not as if you need my permission, or anyone else’s. We’ll never use it in-game, but you can call the Qunari whatever you like, if you think that will actually communicate your meaning better to your audience. If you’re talking to a group of people who’d know what “Kossith” means, then why not?

Because you seem to get mad about it.

I get annoyed with the argument—from both sides. Someone says “Kossith” and you have someone else jumping down their throat for incorrect usage even though they knew damn well to what that person was referring. Likewise, someone says “Qunari” and you have someone else deliberately ignoring context so they can propagate the argument further—that argument where they insist where a different word for the race is absolutely needed and constitutes some kind of oversight or omission on the part of the lore. Because language doesn’t work that way, evidently.Let people use “Kossith”. If you know enough to argue its usage, then you know what they meant, so stop being so anal.Let people use “Qunari”, and don’t try to school them on how non-specific that is unless you happen to be Qunari yourself and the incorrect usage of all these terms is really [/i]confusing for you. If so, then you get a pass.

Basically: stop fighting about it, kids, because this whole debate is really unflattering, obsessive, grognardy, and a bit embarrassing.

Yeah it's a bit embarassing...I so want to rant about the whole Kossith/Qunari stuff.
But it really makes me feel like an obsessive geek , I feel like a massive Star Trek fan having a fit because someone didn't pronounce Klingon correctly or something.

@BasiKarlo: did you miss the part where he stated that he has no problem with people usin the word Kossith on the forum, and that he doesn't like both side that argue about the correct term to use?

:crying:

On the Kossith/Qunari thing, when I first went into a thread a long time ago talking about the Qunari, and saw the term "Kossith" being used, I was like, "...What the hell is a Kossith?" I had to Google it, and then lots of pictures of Qunari came up. Then I went to the Dragon Age Wiki page and it said that Kossith are Qunari, and I was like, "Okay..."

So it can be confusing for someone who's never heard the term "Kossith" before, but then I'm one of those people who try to find out what things are.

I think the thing that bothers people the most is that one term can mean one thing and the other can mean both, and it is intentionally designed to be kind of messy like real life racial and ethnic terminology. And characters in the world use the terms casually.

People just don't like it when terminology and definitions are muddled, especially on purpose; even when it may be like that with real world examples.

Can anybody ask them if the fact that DAI is coming out on xbox 360 as well mean that it'll be friendly to older computers?

That depends on how old your computer is, I suppose.

If it can run current games that have been ported to Xbox 360, it should be able to run Inquisition.

It can run current games. The most demanding games I've had on the computer was the Witcher 2 and AC 4 though (with minor graphic glitches). The computer is three years old, so it's not that old, but game graphics and requirements have been advancing a lot lately with all of the new engines so I'm worried it will be worse by the time it comes out.

Best thing you can do is see how it runs Battlefield 4 or NFS Rivals, the only games currently out that use the Frostbite 3 engine

Probably nothing, but interesting to note that this survey recruiting for DA:I playtesters in Canada contains a number of questions about ME3's multiplayer mode and online gaming generally.

(We'll probably never hear what the playtest sessions are like, but anyone who lives near Vancouver should definitely apply - it sounds like a great opportunity.)

They are cruel...also, they derive power from our misery and tears. Which is for the best, really. Gives 'em more energy to make games with.

I was really hoping DAI would be the first Dragon Age (or first Bioware RPG at all for that matter) where I wouldn't have to massacre everybody just because they were in my way.

Exactly. From a gameply standpoint, I get it. It's fun. Games are fun! More fun in games! From a lore standpoint, it's insane. You mow down 40 guys, now you've got all of their brothers, best friends, lovers, and family members who want you dead. Of course, we never really see the consequence of killing so many people, but it always pulls me out of the game.
