EVERYTHING in such builds is "subject to change." People would only carry on over _____ feature, whether they like or dislike it, only to rage if it's removed or changed later on. Getting info from preprepreprepreprepre-alpha is pointless.BasilKarlo wrote...
Why would the details of a pre-alpha build of game systems ruin our enjoyment? It's not the full game and it's meant for gathering feedback on mechanics of the game, not the story.
Are there different "kinds" of dragons? Just because we have different species of whale or elephant in our own world, doesn't necessarily mean that there are different species of dragon in Thedas. Also, in Mark of the Assassin, I believe that wyverns are said to be related to dragons.Tali-vas-normandy wrote...
I was wondering are we going to see diffrent kinds of dragons? or will they just be high dragons and the tiny ones again?
We've seen the five levels of maturity of the dragon: dragonlings (babies), drakes (mature males), dragons (immature females), high dragons (mature females), and the Archdemon. In addition, we've encountered a "mature dragon," "dragon thrall," and a "spectral dragon," which I assume were added for some game variety. This is eight different dragons in both games.

My point is, if it really goes that track of five stages no matter what, it shouldn't have gender denotations. And if it DOES matter on the gender, then it's not five stages. It's two/three for the male, three/four for the female...
Also, can we really consider them to be "Archdemons" before they become Blighted? They are still the Old Gods at that point, right?

High dragons are only females, yes it's official, though I see your point. I do not consider the Archdemon to be another kind of dragon more than its name either.
I would like to see new types of dragons as well, not just "levels of maturity", but, idk, something like an elemental dragon, a spirit dragon and so forth each one with several diverse abilities.
It just adds to the overall combat variety if we get to fight them with different strategies.
Yes, they are (or are believed to be). They are still the Old Gods at that point, right?

Said like that, you're right; I probably should have phrased it some other way.ShadowDragoonFTW wrote...

However, if you combine all of those, we've seen eight different types of dragons, including the spectral dragon from DAA, which is certainly unique. I was trying to show that there has been a great variety in the dragons we've encountered so far, since the person asked, "I was wondering are we going to see diffrent kinds of dragons? or will they just be high dragons and the tiny ones again?" We've certainly seen more than two thus far, even among the larger size.
If Tali-vas-normandy was referring to different dragon species, like their cousin wyvern and any as of yet unknown species, that's another matter entirely. Seeing different species, like perhaps an Asian inspired serpent-like dragon is not something I'm interested in for Dragon Age.
I actually like the fact the Dragon Age doesn't have the whole bestiary of creatures from DnD, but only a few fantasy-types. Giants, trolls, bugbears, kobolds, and on and on... meh.

I think the strategy of showing rather than telling is a good move; after the way DA2 was marketed I think DA3 needs more gameplay footage instead of potentialy-wooly dev-speak. The upside, I guess, is that when they do start to reveal info in a few (?) months it'll probably be quite shiny. .
(Come to think of it, ME3 was also lambasted for over-promising in pre-release developer comments, so it's probably a good thing that they're erring on the side of circumspection.)

If the first thing that we see of DA:I is some pretty Blur cinematic and some vague features about improving on button awesome, I'm pretty sure more than several people will start generating an angry feedback.

ME3 failed at that because they outright lied several times about story points. Gameplay wise they did marketing quite well IMHO.

Based on past dev statements, we also shouldn't expect much concrete information about DA3 to emerge before the northern spring.

What is a sprint review day?
They have a internal show-off of everything they have done since the last sprint review day. And the tweet a bunch of cryptic comments about the game.
