I believe its been mentioned the Desire Demons are technically genderless, its just when appearing to mortal's they chose the feminine form as they believe its the most seductive, I do have an image in my head of what a male desire demon would look like.................;)

I know that about the desire demons, and it makes some sense.  Not much to me, because not all ladies should be drawn to a feminine form.  It works I suppose. However, why can't a spirit of Faith or Justice or Valor or Compassion be feminine?

Why is masculine the default setting for any spirit that isn't a Temptress? <_<

That's why I sent David the tweet.  I know it might cause a storm on the forums and I'd rather see if he's up for answering it directly.  Or going onto his blog to talk about it further than just a tweet.

I would just assume in the past from a technical standpoint might have been too much effort to change the form of the desire demon based on who was addressing it at the time, and from a game standpoint, your character's orientation is never stricly set behind the scene's, so the game can't exactly guess for you, since its something that only comes up ingame during romance talks with companions/npcs.

Though I suppose they could make it so when you talk with a desire demon there could be a option "could change your form to this? / something more pleasing?

I'd love to keep chatting about this, but let's not derail the Twitter thread any further.

You're welcome to start a thread on the subject, if you're feeling brave.  I'm not particularly today, but I'll throw in my thoughts.

doesn't a desire demon pretend to be Feynriel's dad?

Other than confirming that the Imperium will not be in Inquisition, nothing major.

Ah thats a shame, would have liked to visit the Imperium, though considering what the Inquisition is set out to do, I doubt they'd really care for what the Inquisition will be trying to accomplish, so wouldn't really get much help from them.

Maybe in the next DA game ;)

I just sent David a tweet:

@davidgaider Why is all the feminine spirits in the Fade demons? Where is the feminine good spirits?

Well, we haven't really seen many "good" fade spirits at all, have we?  They don't really have gender anyway...

Desire demon.
<_<

They've always appeared as female, but they can take any form that they think will please their victim. I strongly suspect their appearance in the games is based on the male gaze, though (i.e. straight men are assumed to be playing and therefore must be titilated).

I mean, she made sense for that one templar in the tower, but I would have thought she'd have looked quite different to, say, Connor. That said, maybe she did and we just don't see it.

If I remember correctly a dev mentioned a long time ago that initially they also planned male desire demons that would appear for female PCs but in the end it was too complicated and male desire demons were cut.

I don't think it's quite fair to say that all spirits appear male as we've only seen 4 so far:
Valor and Justice were knights in a helmet, but to me they always seemed more like a walking armor than a man imo
Sloth was a bear
And the way Wynne talked about her spirit it seemed more feminine to me.

Was a spirit of faith ever depicted as masculine? As far as I know, the only involvement it's had in the fiction is via possession, and there it's been exclusively possession of females.

Outside of possession, I think the only context in which a spirit's been depicted at all are very brief appearances of valor and justice (or maybe just valor?) - though, granted, a masculine depiction was presented.

I hope we see male Desire Demons in DAI. ;)
'Cause when the Femsire Demons (yes I DID just create a new word) tried to tempt my character it was like this:

Desire Demon: "Is there anything that you.. desire?" *bats eyelashes*
Me: "Hah nope, sorry girl you're barking up the wrong tree here!" *Kills Demon*

So.. yeah. :D

Wowza.

Is it bad of me to say if THAT was a desire demon My Warden or Hawke never would have finished the game?

I'd be okay if the release date was pushed to 2015. The more time to polish the game the better

That's not really how it works. If you give developers more time they want to add more features and chapters and characters. They don't just go into full-on polishing. A lot of the staff have no role in that so a lot of people would have nothing to do for a long time.

Maybe it's just me, but I always imagined the spirit of Faith that connected with Wynne as feminine, mostly because we got to know that spirit through her. But I agree it would have been nice to see it manifest as such.

I almost wonder what "we would be..." was going to be finished with. A comparison with another company? A comment that they would all be jaded beyond belief after years in the industry? An anthropomorphic toaster?

Questions abound.
