Six months does sound quite a bit shorter than the marketing cycles for other Bioware games (which had up to a year, if not longer), but some actual content to show alongside dev comments might even be a better way to do it. It's fair to say DA2's marketing really didn't resonate with a lot of fans, and ME3 was plagued by some hyperbolic developer statements that didn't match what was later in the game.
(What does intrigue me, though, is the return to a holiday season launch date; both DAO and the first ME were November releases but all their sequels have been in January/February/March. Should we take it as a positive sign of EA's expectations for the game?)
I'd wager it has everything to do with the fact that right now we're not hearing anything about pretty much any games being released after second quarter of this year. Major multiplatform or console games that are coming out this year have all been slated for release up to the second quarter- games like BioShock Infinite, Tomb Raider, GTA 5, Crysis 3, Dead Space 3. There has to be a reason why we're not hearing much of anything about any other game releases slated for later this year, when we normally would have by now.
Its more than likely due to the fact that come June and E3 (if not earlier at GDC or PAX East) the industry will be in full on hype mode for the nextgen consoles likely coming late this year. And thats when DA3 will get a full push from marketing.
I guess we might get some inkling of new DA news come February 1st with EA's quarterly conference call, if we haven't heard anything before then.

Or perhaps even late february since Microsoft and Sony both have conferences in Feb Sony's is supposed to be pretty big this year and seems like a good tip for a reveal or atleast a small announcement perhaps once thats out of the way we'll hear more about DA3.

Ah, I'd forgotten about the earnings call.
It does seem unusual that they haven't so much as released a trailer for the next game, the developers' (understandable) desire to show rather than tell aside. There have been a lot of rumours about which consoles DA3 will be released on, and if it is slated for the next-gen ones that could explain the truncated marketing time.
(Presumably EA has an NDA on information related to any new consolse that may or may not exist, it might be that they're choosing - or required - to stay silent about major titles until Microsoft or Sony officially announce the platforms.)

Looks like they're learning from the ME complaints after all, and I love them for it.

I don't think there is anything that could make me more excited to play a future Dragon Age game. Sad race selection couldn't make it into the next game, but I'm looking forward to the game just the same.Wiedzmin182009 wrote...

Um.. Probably nothing to worry about, you guys seem reasonable for sure, but I just hope that people don't read too much into the statement regarding imports. It's still a hassle to get it working properly..

I'm thinking that he's talking about the rumoured multiplayer part when he says that he wants more races playable

Also, yes, it does look pretty likely that those two figures in the concept art were representations of the Inquisitor - the same figure(s?) have been in a bunch of environmental concept art we've seen.

No, we don't need to share false & expired info. It only propegates incorrect information being passed on about the game.
Seeing as the cat is pretty much out of the bag, zip code and country by now, I don't see what harm it does. Just remember that the ideas presented are really old.
