My guess were similar to yours except I didn't know what rumored companion would fit with Ortolan bunting.
I also have a strange craving for sweets now

My guess would be that Cole would be the wax fruit. Looks real, but isn't.

It's just something fun we've done since Origins. I think someone asked us to describe the characters and we ended up comparing them to food. For instance, Wynne was oatmeal with raisins.

If Banxey2's speculation is correct they have revealed Cole as a companion.

That's a big if, though. People's only potential reference at this point is the speculated list of companions, so of course they'll find a way to make it fit together. BioWare hasn't revealed anything new.

That's a big if, though. People's only potential reference at this point is the speculated list of companions, so of course they'll find a way to make it fit together. BioWare hasn't revealed anything new.

That's a very big if, remember him being in in the survey and having a bio and being in the war room doesn't actually make him a companion though some people still hint at that but Gaider refuted both saying that the people in them may not be companions or even exist or have changed significantly.

He may or may not be a companion, it's really to early to tell and some of predictions could be way off base so it's more or less a hint who these people might be but nothing nothing is confirmed and it's really just speculation and guess work, and maybe incorrect along with Gaider's earlier statement which may not be about Cole either.

Or a hidden companion a la Logain.  I always suspected there would be a tenth companion, probably a DLC.
I love this kind of stuff, by the way.  It's so fun and informative, without actually telling us anything.

I'm still pulling for the Trident Guy to be a companion, and I'm thinking he'll be the Ortolan Bunting (Iron Bull is the chilli dog, obvs).

That's funny, I always thought of the Night's Watch as being closer to the Legion of the Dead than the Grey Wardens. The LotD are an organization of warriors, mainly composed of criminals and disgraced nobles seeking absolution, who leave behind everything they know to fight an ever-present threat at the edge of civilization.

I can see the Grey Warden similarities as well - they are an organization that can conscript anyone and are exempt from the laws of nations, and their reason for being is to combat an ancient and mostly forgotten supernatural threat.

Of course, I'm NOT saying Gaider or DA stole/ripped off anything! Like Gaider says, just about everything is similar to something previous and that doesn't mean the latter concept was stolen in any way.

I thought Gaider said 'A Song of Fire and Ice' was one of the big influences when making Dragon Age in the first place anyway. Of course, it's not like the concept originated their either. I personally dislike it when people use the words 'rip-off' or 'clone' when 'inspired by' or 'similar concept of' are more accurate.

Could even tie it into V-day theme question. Or if a dev is willing to answer it here, that would be nice.

They can't.  If anything, abilities are going to become more exclusive and diverse looking at the leaked abilities sheet that one time like Cassandra knocking down the gate.
