I believe he is saying no Dev Diaries now OR next week, something else instead.

Which obviously is code for "beware the Ides of March." Surely.

Yeah I got this impression , too.

And the only code I'm getting is the next month is going to be boring.

To be honest they had the GameInformer interview not so long ago , so maybe they decided to keep the diaries when time for heavy promotion comes.

Somehow I'm not that thrilled about next week , oh well.

We just got a new shiny forum .So it's not that bad.

It's a poor camera shot, but it looks like there's open sky behind it. And outdoor landmark maybe?

It seems more like an open cavern to me.

Although, it would be neat if the dwarf inquisitor could put up a massive statue of him or herself outside of hq. ;D

"Shiny" forum may be a bit of an understatement. :D

Waiting till the last minute to tell us that the dev diaries are actually delayed, huh? Oh, Bioware, how you love to torture us.

So the dev diaries are postponed to March (we don't even know when), and we'll get something next week (which is also next month)? I'm guessing a clearer image of that paragon statue, maybe giving us a hint of a new area in the game or something along those lines.

So I think the statue may be a building

tumblr_n1l2tazyJS1sjnh4bo1_500.png

1) it appears to be on a ledge judging from the ground on the right, and no visible ground on the left

2) there's sort of a faint outline of a stair like ramp

3)there's a faint edge of a mountain in the background

4) judging by the mountain in the background, this thing looks MASSIVE.

5) the non-person part of the statue seems to be in a building shape, not just a "here let's carve this massive statue on top of this mountain" shape.

It reminds me a bit of Kirkwall , the city was carved in stone.

Though I don't remember anything about a giant Paragon statue .

Most of the Thaig are difficult to find now , so ...Kal Sharok?

A lyrium mine?Who knows.

The game map area technically includes Kal-Sharok, and Orzamaar. Also Kal-Hirol (the thaig that was reconstructed after Awakening)

Though not denerim..... it's slightly past the shadow... (IF this is the game map after all)

So, I know the post says not to "worry" about accents. Does that mean no accents allowed?

Cameron Lee @Cameron__Lee :

Accents are fine, we have all kinds in dragon age :)

Over on Tumblr, David Gaider talks about if he could experience any one of the games he helped create fresh, which would it be...

One bit of advice for the voice thing: don't try to change your voice or affect an accent. It makes it harder to act genuinely.

User:

Is that gonna be a problem with the sorta-British tone I see in a lot of DA?

Mike Laidlaw @Mike_Laidlaw :

Not at all. We have plenty of characters who have US accents, too. (Dwarves, some elves, Qunari...)

This is one of the primary reasons I would never want to actually work in the games industry, and on DragonAge in particular.  Being able to enjoy the games, simply and purely, is very important to me.  It's conflciting, though, because I'd also love to help create something so awesome.  Auhg.  I think a good compromise would be to keep my current awesome job and do games contract work on the side.  ;)

Yup - I was thinking the same thing reading this.

Another reason why I wouldn't want to work in that industry is the fact you're pouring 2-3 years of your life into a single project. The joys of a successful game... would be unreal I'm sure. But I can't imagine how brutal it'd be if it turned out to be critical and commercial bomb...

@Mike_Laidlaw Also, even best actors do line several times before getting "the keeper". Don't feel like you have to upload your first take.

I was kind of expecting the delay in the dev diaries, considering the past of DAI's development :D.
I'd say that what we'll get is (at least partially) dwarven-related. I wouldn't mind an update to the site with a bunch of locations in the game.

But they've never had anyone that remotely sounds Australian or New Zealander - very few games do, which is why it'd be so jarring. I want to enter, but at the same time I hardly think they'd ever use an accent like mine in the actual game. That sort of accent is distinctive enough that I don't really think it fits anywhere in the landscape of accents that we've already heard,

(unless that undiscovered continent on the other side of Thedas is actually New Zealand)

Just go and record yourself!

If your voice acting is good , who cares about the accent ?

The contest is mostly for fun .

Come on, Pinecone.

It's totally still worth a go. :)

Also, I've been trying to think if I did hear an Aussie accent somewhere in DA. I think maybe Oghren may have fooled me into thinking it was him, by being blokey.
