I follow Andy Bennett on tumblr and it's definitely just his artwork based on the concept art we've seen. He's done all the companions from the other two games as well. Really good stuff. Even Matt Rhodes is a fan.

Please tell me they are. Honestly, these are all the companions I am hoping for. Maybe a bit male heavy  but that's my only complaint, and that's a minor one in my opinion.

Well, not ALL the characters. He is missing a few, but I hear that's because he had a deadline for this or something so he prioritized with favorites.

Some of them are very likely not to be companions. That lineup is just based on what we know(Varric, Cassandra, Vivienne, Sera, Grey Warden) and throwing in unconfirmed people from the survey and concept art. Cullen, the elf mage, the Chevalier and Iron Bull are not confirmed companions.

Please tell me they are. Honestly, these are all the companions I am hoping for. Maybe a bit male heavy  but that's my only complaint, and that's a minor one in my opinion.

It's an exceptionally unlikely lineup. It's entirely too warrior heavy. 5 warriors to only 2 rogues and 2 msges. And 3 of those warriors are sword+shield. Don't count on that being the lineup. Cullen is likely to be an asset but not a companion IMO.

In related news, I am aware that many of you like Alistair, and that most of you would like more Inquisition information.

Yeah, but Origins is Warrior heavy and only has 2 mages and 2 rogues.

Origins only had 3 warrior companions. 4 if you count the "secret" companion, but he replaces Alistair in the party. Shale and Dog weren't really warriors.

I think he said that they hadn't asked him yet. Or they told him not to tell anyone and to deliver that tweet to mess with us.

I'd consider them warriors personally. Dog's very tankish. But we've never had lots of mages or rogues, so this fan art lineup wouldn't be out of the ordinary.

It'd be odd if they left it till the last minute before they asked him about VA though...and I doubt he'd outright lie instead of just being vague.

Maybe I've managed to not be quite so thirsty for news, because as bad as I want something, if what comes out is just a screenshot or concept art I may feel rather... underwhelmed. Ideally, I'd like information on the Inquisitor's backgrounds, or even on companions at this point. But that seems rather far fetched.

I'm the exact opposite.  I really don't want to know anything more about the story or characters.  A teasing tweet here and a leaked screenshot there is fun without ruining the full impact of playing the game fresh.  Mostly, I love hear about the behind-the-scenes stuff. 

 

It's fun seeing how different everyone is about what info they want to know ahead of time, etc.  Yay!

I don't want to know anything about the companions. That's why I mentioned the Inquisitor's backgrounds as my first option. They are substantial information without really being spoilery. In fact, it might even be good to know about them before the game comes out.

 

But as much as I would rather remain in ignorance about the companions, it is also true I would rather know something with more meat to it than some random pic. I don't think my mind is ready to stand such a conflict, and there is still half a year left before the game comes out.

 

Weep for me.
