I guess that would depend on how big his role in DA3 is. Greg Ellis is a charming guy though, I'm sure he managed to smooth talk his way out of the sh!t!

I'm cautiously optimistic. Cautious being the key word.

Anything can happen. It might be cut. Re written. He might be a minor NPC instead of Companion. It's anybody's guess what the final product will be.

But "optimistic" is still in the phrase, too.

We'll see.

It's stll very much unconfirmed, but it looked like Cullen was a companion from his position in the leaked survey. Or at least, that's my judgement call based on some of the other concept art we got there, and the fact that they were doing voice acting seemingly so early. 

I could totally be wrong though, or things could've changed in the meantime.

I'm personally convinced that we'll see him in DA3 in some capacity.

I recall Hepler once saying that we'd get to find out what happened to Cullen after the Meredith incident. I'm not sure if she was refering to him being in-game back then, or that maybe we'd find out via other means (like a comic or short story) But it certainly sounded promising anyway.

I hope we get a trailer very soon, but I would be willing to bet that development is behind schedule. They kept saying "no details until 2013" but kept revealing details in 2012. They even said they wouldn't announce the game until they had something to show us but then went ahead and revealed the game. And they pushed back their sprint review day. Speculation on my part, they're way behind schedule and don't have a trailer ready to show us.
Either way, there's no chance a trailer would be 12 GB. That's the size of like 2 full-length HD movies.

It's more "Some of the stuff being worked on is exciting and it's fun to drop hints."

I particularly enjoyed seeing people dissect the blurred picture of the triangle that Mark posted.  Was fun to see people go over it with a fine tooth comb.
