Whats this about a new trailer? Unless its a gameplay trailer I'm not interested.

It's the "discover the dragon age" trailer that shows some of the scenery. Very beautiful but not something important to me.

I *really* hope they don't reveal all of the companions.  I'd like to accidentally miss or kill some of them like I did in Origins because I didn't know they could be recruited (hello Wynne and Zev!).  If they really do continue releasing companion kits every other Friday I may have to go hide away to not spoil it all for myself.  That would make me sad, because I have so much fun here (but I understand that others want ALL THE INFOZ NAO, and that's cool).  :'(

I don't mind the companion kits because they tell us so little (in the grand scheme of things). I do like to know who all of the companions are, not because I necessarily want to use all of them but because I don't want to miss out on the possibility of having a cool character in my party. All I really care about is their name and class (for party balance purposes), and I prefer to leave the rest to be discovered in the game. For example, I knew going into DAII that Merril was a mage and possible LI (I did get spoiled on that), but I didn't know anything really about her personality. That first quest with the Dalish where she tags along was enough to convince me that I did not want her in my party, so I left her in the Alienage and never spoke to her again (at least, until she showed up at the end of the game supporting Hawke, and I was like, "Who are you, again?"). I was still glad I knew that she was a possible party member so I could at least give her a chance.

 

Origins was cool because you could actually get rid of party members you had no interest in (though I didn't do that because I actually liked all of the Origins companions), and I seem to remember them saying that that will be possible again in this game.

 

I also realize I used a LOT of parentheses in this post, so my apologies for that...

I can understand not wanting to know all possible companions before the game is even released, I even feel the same way, but at the same time I know I won't be able to stay away from the forums no matter what. I kinda hope they keep at least one companion unrevealed at release, like the one in DA:O.

Yeah, Bioware's going to be at both Pax East and the GDC.

There won't be a big Bioware presence this year, apparently. Mike said a while ago that since they're sort of crunching to finish the game at the moment, DA won't have a big event like in past years. 

 

GDC starts on Monday (I think), and in the past some games have had reveals and trailers there - but I'm not sure if the media and publisher showcase events are even happening this year.

The trouble here is that Mike and Mark are often confused for one-another among fans because their names are slightly similar. I've considered broaching this touchy subject with one of them in the past, perhaps suggesting to Mark that he change his name to Dragonslayer or some such, but thus far I haven't built up the courage.

The first one was Morrigan, and she's NOT a companion. So this seems like it could easily happen. 

 

 

 

 

DA:O companions have gone on to do important things, I wonder if any DA2 ones will. Well, besides Varric that is.
