it certainly helps that W3 was delayed but i suspect any AAA game coming out roughly the same time as DAI will compete for players money. Sure financially stable players might cough up money for multiple games but some if not most will have tough time choosing one way or the other. That is why i hope they'll find nice release day spot that isn't too crowded with other AAA games.

That said im 95% sure i shall acquire my copy of DAI ASAP regardless of other games i might prompt to purchase.

I've noticed those news sites are multiplying, it's not even just The Examiner any more. MotoringCrunch and SidhTech write the most ridiculous articles based on absolutely nothing, and those articles appear really high on Google News results. Sometimes they take statements made months or years apart and put them together to mean something else, and the headlines are *always* just stupid clickbait.

Like, I know this thread is pretty good at overanalysing dev tweets but at least everyone here is speculating and nobody claims to be a news site. Those faux-news sources can and do give people the wrong impression, and basically spread false information about upcoming games.

Totally agree with this... God I hate shui tai... Everytime I see his name on the examiner news page i tend to ignore his crap every bit info he pastes is totally irrelevant to the topic he supposedly discussing. There's usually a quote from a dev and the rest is crap of old rehashed and repeated stuff we already know about that is months old :(

It helps that DA is radically different to almost everything else coming out this year. There's no Skyrim, and now there won't even be The Witcher 3 as competition. It's a pretty sweet spot to be in, I think. (unless Assassin's Creed V is implausibly some kind of epic medieval adventure where they've recreated a scale model of 15th century France or whatever)

I got a few semi-open world party based RPGs coming out this year. They are all kickstarters, so not considered AAA by many, but I'm still waiting for them and Pillars of Eternity and Divinity: Original Sin stand way higher than DAI in my "cannot wait gaming list" even.

User:

is DA planned to be a trilogy or are there plans for more installements :)?

David Gaider @davidgaider

Dragon Age is not a trilogy. We will make more until...we stop making them, I guess.

Why do people continue to believe DA is a trilogy? I don't get it. :(

Doubt it, November is COD month. I'm guessing October since EA doesn't have a AAA shooter this year, though they still would face competition from Arkham Knight and quite possibly ACV.

I've said it to you before and I'll say it again: Call of Duty releasing every November does not and should not stop games from wholly separate genres from releasing. Countless behemoths have survived and thrived under Call of Duty's shadow. It's when there are entirely too many other options garbled together that almost everyone gets a bloody nose for it; 2011 was a good example of this.

I agree.

I'd say there's no real competition for DA: I since The Witcher 3 has been delayed. I guess BioWare has a clear way.

Well, the ESO is coming out this year (Elder Scrolls Online), but I don't think too many people will go for it. It's a pay to play. You have to subscribe to it (monthly, I think) to play it. It's pretty and all, but it's not that great. I beta it. The story is difficult to follow and there's the standard Elder Scroll bugs throughout.

Besides, even if Elder Scrolls had an actual game game coming out (Not the multiplayer online type), I'd still pick Dragon Age over them. Dragon Age tops their story, hands down.

If The Elder Scrolls "VI" were releasing November 2014, Inquisition would probably be pushed back all the way until March. *That* is an example of something which would by its nature probably terrify EA, not Call of Duty. Most big holiday releases are October/November, with a general curve toward November, even, but if Battlefield debuts within a scant two weeks of CoD, there's serious cause for concern. And if a Skyrim sequel (as the industry would regard it; for marketing purposes, nothing came before Skyrim, and the gaming world shook when Skyrim arrived) is approaching anywhere near another RPG, those RPG makers are going to tremble.

Thank god it's just some currently-tepid MMO.

Am I weird if the thing I wanted the most to read after the first few line was Celene's dress description? It didn't disappoint either.

Gotta drill a hole through these last ~160 pages of Asunder so I can preview what's goin' on in The Masked Empire.

And also because Asunder's really good too, but hey, secondary.

That is because nothing existed before Skyrim, it was the ancient dragons that created gaming, until the traitor Paarthurnax taught flaming to the ancient trolls who used it to defeat the dragons and send gaming in to a dark age. And now the dragons have returned to bring a new glorious age of gaming, only their evil spawn - Metacritic - stands in the way

You can read it if you want. It's completely spoiler-free in regard of Asunder.

Nice.

Btw, is anyone else having trouble replying to posts? I get a weird reply box that has no formatting options, and there's no setting to switch back to the normal mode.

@King:

Yeah, but I'm terribly OCD you see. And besides I'll have finished Asunder in the next few days anyway. :D

@EP:

Hmm, I'm usually on my phone so I can't help ya. The mobile site's problems (of which there are startlingly few) probably don't apply to the full site. Good luck getting it straightened out, mate.

On reading the preview, it's interesting that we haven't seen anybody wearing a mask in any of the concept art or gameplay footage. I wonder if different masks will be available in Orlais? And if they'll have any impact on the gameplay?

In the last trailer there was a noble wearing a mask during the ball.

I hope we'll have a large sortiment of different masks we can choose from. I know this is probably something that's so far down the list of "stuff that needs to be looked at" that basically everything else in the game comes before it, but it would be something really nice to see.

Yeah, weren't the dancers also wearing masks?

I love the whole mask idea so much and hope they play an important role in the game, at least while we're in Orlais.

Masks are only good if you can beat people to death with them
