Happy #StPatricksDay! Cat Cookies by the always lovely @joy_ang for the #BioWare #DAI office!

So cute! If I didn't live so far away from Edmonton I would ask for one. ![]()
"We saved this conversation in the Conversations tab in Lync". Outlook 365's habit of using "we" reminds me of Sword and Sworcery.

@Mike_Laidlaw i know you probably got asked this already but, whose voice is it in the discovering the dragon age trailer? The inquisitors?
@user An inquisitor, yes.

@PatrickWeekes A Chapter from your book is intresting. Pity that it isn't Gaspard.
@user Is a book chapter up somewhere? I am evidently the last one to hear these things. ![]()

Wow. What that tweet implies is very exciting.
I would imagine they'd just say "Yes that's the male inquisitor" if there was only one voice for all Male/Female inquisitors. I have my hopes but have them tempered in case I'm wrong!

The very definition of a good idea. Cons are overwhelming in lots of ways. http://www.takethis.org/2014/03/announcing-the-take-this-afk-room-at-pax-east/ … Well done, @russpitts, @SusanArendt et al.
@mike_laidlaw @susanarendt Thanks Mike. We're glad it's coming together.
@russpitts @SusanArendt Rockstars, both of ya! See you at PAX East!

Does that mean we shall learn stuff?

Well, I would imagine that every race/genedr has a different voice OR you can choose your Quizzy's voice like in Origins, except that they will be fully voiced , not just grunts and prompts and such ("Can I get you a ladder? So you can get off my back?" LOL)
Stay calm everyone, this is a routine reminder: have you subscribed to the @BioWare Base @youtube channel yet? http://www.youtube.com/user/BioWareBase …

Stuff - yes, DAI stuff - i doubt it
The logistical nightmare therein is tantamount to the supposition that there will not be eight voices.
Why is it a logistical nightmare? As I see it, it's really just a matter of budget. They have the extra time, they would just need EA to fund such an endeavor and in this case it would vastly improve the quality of the game for the 'modern gamer' who expects voice acting and such in their big games. More hardcore RPG fans may think it's fine to have a silent protagonist, but I think these days, especially after ME's success, EA sees the benefit of having a voiced protagonist, and if it's true that each will have their own voice, then Bioware is being very, very ambitious.
This is not me saying I EXPECT them to do it. I would be very happy, but I really wouldn't mind if they were all silent. One thing that would bug me is if it was just one voice for all races(excluding the obvious difference for Male/Female). I'd take silent over having the same voice for 4 separate races.

Hey this is the same company that made a fully voiced MMO with 16 player character voices
An excellent counterpoint, although not one I haven't considered. It certainly lends credence to the possibility, but I don't yet feel it's enough to make me think it'll happen.Hey this is the same company that made a fully voiced MMO with 16 player character voices
I'd rather see them use the funds, time and effort for 8 different VO's for the Inquisitor on other areas of the game. Sure, it would be nice to have variety and all, but I see anything beyond 1 male and 1 female VO as an unnecessary luxury.

Why? Because TOR was being pushed skyward. EA was banking many, many millions on that game. Its word budget is not comparable. Besides, correct me if I'm wrong (no really, do, I don't play MMOs) but weren't TOR's companions somewhat limited compared with the single-player BioWare experience? Or were they rich with content?
If it's true that they were somewhat barebones, my point here would be that a great deal of the VA work went to the PCs. Of course I'm aware everything is voiced too to bottom in TOR, but I once again say that MMO project was an incredibly ambitious behemoth many years in the making with what is undoubtedly a far higher financial overhead. We know for a fact TOR had a stupendous budget.
They were at least at the original KOTOR level of detail. But yes, the amount of money used on TOR was beyond A LOT, so to speak.

Okay, since you want me to correct you ![]()
Depending on when you get a companion they can have between 10 and 30 dialogues (roughly), not counting their comments during class story missions and depending on the specific dialogue they can be compared to DA2 and ME3 in lenght, although they are definetely shorther than ME1/2 and DAO, but with the number of dialogues you get a lot more content
I think (if I can recall correctly from the year or so since I played TOR), the companion speech amount was comparable to DA2. They had comments they made during combat, comments if they were present during quests. The bulk of the speech was during one-on-one conversations you had with them after meeting certain criteria.
In that sense, DA2 had more companion speech than TOR because there would be more "cut-scene" content during the Companion quests. TOR would give you companion-specific quests, but your companions would be then relegated to making "combat comments".
Heh, I feel like ME1 has the least companion dialogue of any of those five games actually, but alright.
Yeah, that's pretty impressive. Color me impressed. Still thinking the massive TOR budget is a fairly unsinkable reason to be skeptical though. I know it's keeping me from assuming eight voices and I would implore anyone with a genuine assumption of it to consider caution lest they be extremely disappointed if it doesn't happen.
i was comparing single conversation lengts, in ME1 with investigate options and all, they were pretty long

Time for the dark humor fun fact of the day - SWTOR's budget could feed Nigeria for a year
I guess we'll find out soon enough.
