I have also never truly understood why it's so important for some that for instance elven Inquisitors have a different voice from human Inquisitors. Is there a precedent I've missed in DAO and DA2 of the races themselves having distinguishable vocal traits? I'll give you that at least all of the notable qunari characters we've met have had deep voices thus far, but even then what we've heard of the male Inquisitor has been plenty deep if you want to assume that all qunari must have deep voices.

Though if I was in charge, I'd have both the male and female elven Inquisitor sound like high-pitched, shrill, borderline racist leprechaun stereotypes. Why? Because ***** and giggles.

"Aye, lookie o'er there! That there dragon is guardin' a great big pot o' gold! Hehehehehehee!"

I see no problem with the same voice actor. I'd imagine he would record some lines in a different manner for the various races.

I'll be pleased as long as they have different VOs for Male and Female.  Different VOs for each race would be cool, but not neccessary (In fact, I'd prefer them to spend their resources elsewhere first).

An excellent counterpoint, although not one I haven't considered. It certainly lends credence to the possibility, but I don't yet feel it's enough to make me think it'll happen.

Why? Because TOR was being pushed skyward. EA was banking many, many millions on that game. Its word budget is not comparable. Besides, correct me if I'm wrong (no really, do, I don't play MMOs) but weren't TOR's companions somewhat limited compared with the single-player BioWare experience? Or were they rich with content?

If it's true that they were somewhat barebones, my point here would be that a great deal of the VA work went to the PCs. Of course I'm aware everything is voiced top to bottom in TOR, but I once again say that MMO project was an incredibly ambitious behemoth many years in the making with what is undoubtedly a far higher financial overhead. We know for a fact TOR had a stupendous budget.

Being inexperience like you with the game, I heard that if they wanted to Bioware could cut the part out that makes it an MMO and turn it into a singleplayer title as it is now. Meaning it would have tons of multiple playthrough options. The article I read pretty much said there is so much content in there that you only see a small portion of it because you won't want to deal with another 180 hours of trying to play another story because the MMO part of the game really holds all that story back thats in the game.

Sorry for a bit off-topic.

Via Topic:

They might have different actors but not as many as eight, maybe just one voice actor for 2 different characters so the person changing their voice for the other race isnt so noticeable.

That'd be pretty cool, Darth. And if they released it for PS4 I'd shell out a good sum for it too. Seems like the kinda thing that'd never happen though. But hey, I base that primarily on the fact that I've never seen it happen before. There's always a first.

Well, I'd hope so. Can you imagine? It'd be like that Little Britain sketch with the really obvious transvestites.

"Well, hullooo there, people of Orlais! I'm the Inquisitor, and I'm here to help you in a very ladylike way! And I'm a lady, and I do lady things!"

Assuming there is more than two voice actors for male and female characters, I would guess they'll be split along the lines of humans and elves sharing one VO, and dwarves and qunari sharing another VO. You want deeper voices for the dwarves and qunari, while humans are Ok with higher or just regular voices. So four in total.

Personally I'd prefer silent protagonists over having the same voice as each character. It works when you're just Hawke, but I'm going to be making at a bare minimum, 4 characters. Each of a different race, I'd like them to have different voices, whether it be actual spoken dialogue or a voice I make up for them. Especially from what we've heard of the Male Inquisitors voice so far, fits a human just fine but elves generally have a softer tone(and not many have the english accent as far as I remember), Dwarves have a bit deeper tone and once again, many don't have the english accent, Qunari obviously have much different voices, they lack the english accent and have a very deep and sometimes gravely voice. I don't think one voice actor can make a convincing performance for each, unless Bioware has some nice voice effects lined up, then so be it. Other wise I would rather them each have their own VA(which I'm not expecting) or go fully silent route(which seems just as unlikely since they've confirmed at least 1 VA).

User: @PatrickWeekes am I more or less likely to end up with my head in a jar if I play a quanari?

Patrick Weeks@PatrickWeekes: .@user Only if it's a BIG jar. Fucks Qunari Lady puts up with similar to amount of "betwixt D and F" in this post.

@clgrenhart @PatrickWeekes There are no romanceable pigeons in Inquisition. I think I can safely confirm this.

Normally I would hope for multiple VA's like SWtOR, but since the elf PC is Dalish, and they gave the Dalish a conglomeration of accents in DA2 I'm hoping not. I would rather have my PCs all sound the same than have any of them sound anything like Merrill or Marethari (DA2 version, they sounded fine in Origins) although the Irish accents of some of the random npcs were good too.

Hey this is the same company that made a fully voiced MMO with 16 player character voices

Good point. I hadn't realized that before.... I guess Inquisition will have 8 different voices.

Oh, and I would deeeeeefinitely prefer two voices over zero. I grew up on all JRPG text boxes, all the time, mind you, but once cinematic people start looking me in the eye and asking questions I feel really weird when "I" don't get to hear "myself" answerin' 'em.
