But isn't the elf Dalish? It would be awkward to be the only Dalish not with a welsh accent.

No, because it leaves out huge mega-spoilery chunks

It's some relatively modern weird way of previewing books. I don't like it; the temptation to read and read and read and disjoint, displace and altogether destroy my initial reading experience in the process runs ultra-high.
You'd think the smart thing to do would be to set a select few pages to read instead of random pages. Makes you wonder what they were on when they thought of that.

I think that was just Merril's clan. The dalish in Origins didn't have welsh accents, I believe.

I figured they'd just go back to their Origin roots..

Yeah, it's... weird. I've seen it happen for years, though. I remember this with Mass Effect Deception, although to be fair half a sentence of that book is enough to dissuade all but the most ardent of fans from continuing.

Ah, touché. Still a DA n00b, I don't know these things. I thought Gaider wanted to swap all Dalish accents thereafter.

But the Origin elves all had North American accents, putting them into the same accent catagory as the dwarves and the Qunari. However, I actually did think the male Inquisitor from the trailer could easily be used for a Dalish Inquisitor, even if it was a little deeper than I'd like for an elf.

Well that is possible, I didn't know he said that. I do love me a good welsh accent!

If you play through Dalish Origin your clan have standard North American accents but in 2 the same clan has Welsh accents now.
I almost said Dalish Accents - welp I've played too much Dragon Age.

Fenris wasn't from Origins. ![]()
And his background is pretty unusual, which I supposed was why he had an unusual accent.

Yup, *now* they have the Irish/Welsh accents going on for the Dalish since DA2. In Origins all elves had the North American accent thing going on. My point is that using the same British accent that humans have for the elves as well doesn't return things to the way they were in Origins. Because Origins elves didn't have British accents. Sorry if that wasn't clear. ![]()

I've always found it a little strange that in game development we spend so much of our working lives replicating other humans.

Dalish elves are nomads. They don't all have Welsh accents because they're from all over Thedas.

do you interact with other inquisitors a lot?
No, but your inquisitor might be a lady.

Probably best to wait until character gen is locked down and demonstrated so no one gets confused.

Is it just me or wouldn't the Dalish in Orlais speak with an Orlesian accent?
