We were. Actually, one of my favorite new features in Inquisition is that you can actually take part in party banter.

Curious that no one has translated that part yet.

So far I saw two pages of the full article here (plus the Pics). The other pages are missing.
We already know about the feature, but can you give some details? How does it work?

As a native german speaker I'd like to add that "blass" means that the characters don't seem particularly striking yet, not that they are shallow.

Thanks for this. Blass is "pale", so most characters seem a bit bland maybe?  Also, the other overall negative point of the preview is that they were unsure how exciting the  "expansion of the Inquisition" would be, but I don't know what element of the game that refers to or in general. Keeps maybe? Of course, this is still a WIP build of the game with limited time to show content so that's expected.

So, does anyone else think the dragon's tail looks a little... funny? What's with the large, tumor-like bulge halfway down it? Something that's supposed to be some sort of counter-balance to the top-heavy front end when in flight?

Maybe it's just me, but his face really reminds me of Nicholas Cage in that shot.

You're not the only one, DragonRacer. I said that the tail seems a bit weird.

Again, please don't read too much into snippets taken out of context. We do have a little section in each preview article that says, here's what we really liked, and here's what we didn't like/aren't sure about yet. The whole Inquisition thing is something we aren't sure about yet because there's limited information and we haven't seen it in action. Yet. So it basically says, hey, it's a good concept, but will it eventually work out? We don't know. It's not necessarily a negative point, it's just something we can't evaluate yet. Potentially, it might be bad. It also might turn out to be really, really great.

Maybe this is taken from the PS3/XBox 360 version? That would explain why they look really blocky.

Of course DAI may be suffering from the downgrade sickness that's affecting Watchdogs and Dark Souls. :/

I think it's the angle+quality of scan.
It seems that the tail has a wide arc shape in the middle of its length.

Only the first two pages are up online, so I think only German subscribers have access to the whole thing.

The one in the air? Yeah, you're not wrong. I think that's more to do with texturing/shading effects than having any significant meaning, good spot though.

That's what I originally figured, that your pros-and-cons window is a regular feature (a good one, btw) and that the "cons" tag can apply to unknowns as well.

Again, we really appreciate your spending time explaining things. In my book that showcases a desire to ensure journalistic integrity and honesty and that is not a requisite feature to journalism as an industry, unfortunately. I'd say I'll be following your magazine more closely from now on, but I don't speak German so I can't make any promises. :P

Yeah, it's not a symbol. Just looks like some ridges or maybe scarring. To me, at least.

Considering that they're just recently shown a videos with enviroments, I doubt it's about a downgrade. And the other things in the magazine look good.
I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Clarification on the "shallow" part: The story says that up until now, we, as editors, haven't yet seen a character that's up there with the likes of Morrigan, Alistair, Minsc, Garrus, HK 47 (the Bioware All-Star cast, so to speak). It also says that this impression is, of course, subject to change, once Bioware reveals more about the companions in Inquisition.

We're not saying the characters are "shallow". Actually, the German term "blass" doesn't translate to "shallow" at all. I genuinely appreciate the interest in our story, but please be aware that meaning and context may get lost in translation. Unless you're a native German speaker, take translations with a grain of salt, please.

"New characters we barely know yet to live up to some others we've spoken to, traveled with, and witnessed the fate of."

Breaking news.

Actually, the Dragon's tail reminds me of a staircase sort of, and with its actual angle it almost looks like an M.C. Escher art.

And their opinion of them is pretty much covered by this:

the german writer is a big fanboy of DA:O and hates DA2

because of that Varric and Cassandra are "shallow"

Thanks for the new info German magazine guys.  But forgive me if I'm not going to take their opinion on the companions seriously at all.

So you might say BioWare is going for artistic integrity here.

I wouldn't recommend you do so, and as a huge Mass Effect fan knowing Patrick is on the case with a companion essentially gridlocks that I'll at the very least extremely enjoy Iron Bull. And frankly there hasn't been a BioWare companion I haven't at least mildly liked and unless the entire roster is all James Vega and Jacob Taylor all the time I'm sure I'll do more than mildly like what we receive.

I was just throwing it out there that what you said about never having seen the people the German fellow was dealing with isn't exactly true, since from what I see it was two pre-established characters and Solas over there.

But yeah, if he doesn't like Varric and Cassandra already, it's no shocker he'll find them not of an "All-Stars" caliber. Me, I definitely place Varric in there.

May I suggest that, if you want to talk about any of the recent information, you move it to a new thread? This is a twitter thread, after all, not the "discuss anything you feel like" thread. If it turns into that, we'll simply close it down.
