Does anyone have a link to that tech-demo video that came out between DA:O and DA2 that seemed to feature Sera and a Grey Warden? I can't for the life of me find it anywhere else, and I don't know what it was called to be able to google it.
FYI, "Western Orlais to Eastern Ferelden" (which I think came from BioWare) doesn't really include the Free Marches. So I'm now skeptical about the Free Marches being in game.
It's kind of disappointing, but I can't get that upset about it. DA:O was ONLY Ferelden and DA2 was just a tiny city state. Even without Nevarra, we're still getting a comparatively huge area. To be honest, I would have been happy if the game was even just set in all of Orlais this time. Maybe I'm just easy to please. lol

Good point. Misunderstandings or failed fact-checking are likely in magazine articles, but outright invention is not.
So, at the moment I guess it looks like Orlais and western Ferelden, with the Dales as one of the parts of Orlais we can visit. The Free Marches are on the other side of Nevarra, so they seem like a less likely destination.
I think the Free Marches will be included because they're rolling over some of the storylines from the scrapped DA2 expansion, Exalted March, into DA:I.
It appeared at the time that Exalted March would be set in a number of Marcher cities (Starkhaven, Wildevale, Estwatch) and I remember devs saying on multiple occasions that the significant plot points of the expansion would be re-used in Inquisition.

It was in this Game Informer video, if I recall correctly. If not, it was in one of the other Game Informer DAI coverage article vids from August last year.

I really hope we're going to Starkhaven to see Sebastian. Has anyone asked Mike about the Free Marches on Twitter? (Not that we'd be guaranteed an answer, but if someone said 'hey, that same magazine article said we were going to the Free Maches, is that wrong as well?' then maybe.)

If we're going to Starkhaven, I think it's almost a certainty. His promise to call an Exalted March on Kirkwall (or whatever the other thing was if he didn't turn against the player) seemed to set up something big.
It might be trickier translating the expansion's story over into Inquisition, but there's definitely another story about the Free Marches that they wanted to tell.

It's quite easy to change where something take place though (see Leliana's DLC in DAO for an example of what happens when you have constraints). Gaider did said that the plot where rewritten, so I wouldn't hold my breath for the Free Marches...
