It is counterproductive to hope for a conversation to stop while constantly referring to it. It also puts the onus on the other person to cease said discussion, something none of us can ever guarantee.

I understand people are very often "get the last word in" types (I am), but I vote we let yesterday's discussion be what it is and set our sights forward now.

The GDC vault is amazing, an absolute wealth of information if you are interested in the games industry.

It's actually sunny today in Alberta! Four days ago, there was snow everywhere.

The weather was a gong show the past week, but amazing today.  I have a feeling the bike will be coming out soon!

Gaider said they announced before they had planned to ease possible worry the Doctors' departure may have caused. I think it was a combination of the two though.

Both contributed. At this point it was one of those "worst kept secrets" sort of thing (the DA2 Game Owner Board was pretty much discussing it anyways), and the news of Ray and Greg leaving would have just left the boards in even more disarray.

Oh good. We've confirmed that we'll be at E3 to show stuff. That's great!

I can, in fact, confirm that I tweeted that, yes. Using my twitters. *nodnod*

Why would you quote Mike's tweet when mine is right there? Is Mike a hair model?

I thought not.

Hair is like a beard you wear on top of your head.

Who's BasilCarlo?

He's obviously referring to you.  Not that that excuses him calling you out, nor your response to the post.

As a note, this thread has some posters (as in multiple people) that are inches away from receiving temp bans as I catch up on this thread, because their contributions have in large part been nothing but pedantic and have only made me frustrated while reading them.

If someone wants to doubt that we're releasing this year... that's fine. If other people feel it's the most reasonable thing to assume Fall... that's also fine.

Prove to me that you're capable of respecting each other's different perspectives, and not flamebaiting each other with childish, passive aggression, or I will enact timeouts since some of you are effectively behaving like children and are showing me that you frankly need something like that.

Tidied things up a bit as my most recent post isn't really a discussion point, and I'd like some of the topics I point out in it to no longer be further discussed.

(and as such, had to clean up some of further posts that quoted pieces and now lacked context).

Campaign team literally means 'the team specifically responsible for the game's main campaign'. As compared to, say, combat. Or exploration.

This has never been questioned, what truly boggles everyone's mind is... can he do dolly / hitchcock zooms?

If you saw a dolly zoom in DA2, there's about a 70% chance I put it there.

Please do not presume to judge for my ignorance on the matter, but wouldn't the presence of a quality assurance team suggest that development is quite far along?

No. We pretty much always have some level of QA support for any project, except maybe experimental prototypes. I have been on the project since preproduction, with my first day being in September 2011 or so. So for about 1.5 years or so, I have been focused exclusively on DA3.

Eh, that's probably a bit too flattering of an analogy haha. Especially when looking at the industry in general. QA does tend to be one of the "later" teams for a lot of studios. Even at BioWare, the bulk of our QA team is created towards the end of the project. We just include members that integrate earlier.

QAE (since people are concerned about the acronym) is QA Engineering, which is basically a small group of mostly programmers, that do most of their work in helping support the QA team (and projects in general). They aren't typically assigned to any one project, but for DA3/BW Frostbite games, they have created services that allow people to use a web service to report bugs, an automatic crash center that logs fatal crashes, to mark maps with common locations of bugs, and so forth.

Smashing.

I give up, been trying to read the whiteboard for too long without really seeing anything.

Well...hmm *puts on professor glasses* Upon analyzing this board, there appears to be this squiggly redness in the upper left hand corner (possibly words) and a green square (with a smaller square inside it) below and beside the blurry words, beneath that there looks to be an outline of a hill with some sort of a head sticking out of it on the left and a stick person lying on their side with one leg beside the big square, he appears to have left a staff of some sort beside him...yep, that's what I got from that B) :P

Hell I sit three meters from that board and I can't even read the mess of lines we scribble on it from time to time.

Hm, and here I was thinking it'd be about DA3 :P

Of course, perhaps there'll be an activity or two for all of Bioware's IPs.

Jessica is a ridiculously good (and passionate) cosplayer too.  Could be referring to something along those lines too.

It's a rather fair atittude, don't you think?

Yes! I would really, really like to see a cessation of arguing over whether or not the game is coming out in 2013 or 2014 or whenever.

Since when does a company that's been araund for 17-18 years and has delivered 15 great games has anything to prove?

We always need to be proving ourselves. All game companies always do.

Having said that, I don't know how big the Far Cry franchise is, so I don't know if Basil's assertion is significant.

It's 10 June, conference starts at 1pm PDT. Not sure how long the event goes for or at what time DA3 will be shown. I'll be in the audience so I'll tweet when we're up.
